On the morning of January 6, 2025, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) held a conference to summarize the achievements of 2024 and outline the goals and tasks for the 2025 plan.

In 2024, despite a mix of favorable and challenging domestic and global circumstances, TKV, with the spirit of "Discipline and Unity" of its miners, basically completed its planned targets, ensuring sufficient coal supply for electricity production according to signed contracts, and achieving higher profits, budget contributions, and employee income than planned.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan – General Director of TKV – affirmed: Strictly implementing the directives of the Government and the Prime Minister, the State Capital Management Committee, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the group's staff and workers quickly overcame difficulties in production conditions caused by extreme weather, rain, and storms; focusing on decisive and flexible management from the beginning of the year in coal production, import, and blending. As a result, in 2024, the group's commercial coal output reached nearly 50 million tons, successfully fulfilling its political task of ensuring coal supply for electricity production and economic activities, especially during peak hot months, with an average output of 4.0 million tons/month.

Accordingly, TKV has directed the production and consumption of minerals flexibly, adapting to changes in demand and prices in domestic and international markets, promptly resolving issues arising in production, taking advantage of favorable opportunities, and maximizing the capacity of mineral and industrial explosives mining and processing. As a result, domestic consumption and mineral exports in 2024 exceeded both production and revenue targets, increasing by 22% compared to the plan, contributing positively to increased production and business efficiency, with TKV's total profit reaching VND 6.23 trillion, an increase of VND 1.85 trillion compared to the plan.

“In particular, TKV has preserved and developed the state capital entrusted to it, with the parent company's equity capital as of December 31, 2024, expected to reach VND 41.44 trillion, an increase of VND 903 billion compared to the beginning of the year. This qualifies TKV to increase its charter capital to VND 42 trillion after approval by the competent authority (expected in 2025); accordingly, TKV will have sufficient counterpart capital for investment in the development of large and important projects in the coming time,” the General Director of TKV emphasized.

Financial ratios have improved and been enhanced, financial safety continues to be maintained, and state capital in enterprises is preserved. Implementing a comprehensive program of practicing thrift and combating waste, the corporation and its companies have strictly controlled costs, developed rational economic and technical solutions, saving nearly 1,000 billion VND in costs and minimizing the impact of rising input prices.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, stated: Resolving difficulties and obstacles arising in the production and business activities of the coal industry is a regular and continuous activity carried out monthly/quarterly/annually by the functional agencies of Quang Ninh province. This has effectively addressed and resolved difficulties for coal industry units, or, together with the coal industry, reported to relevant ministries, central agencies, and other relevant bodies for timely resolution; thereby creating the most favorable conditions for the coal industry to achieve its production and business plan at the highest level.

In the coming period, Quang Ninh province requests TKV to continue its cooperation and implement several specific contents: Striving to complete and exceed the 2025 production and business plan, especially the production of clean coal in the Quang Ninh region; reviewing and perfecting safety regulations and procedures in each stage of mining operations, especially underground mining; strengthening labor safety assurance throughout the group… In particular, continuing to preserve and promote the fine cultural values ​​of miners, the coal industry, and Quang Ninh province; paying attention to social welfare and social security, contributing to the successful achievement of the goals and tasks set forth in the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress.

Promoting the "Discipline and Unity" communication spirit.

In 2024, upholding the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" of the mining working class, and the tradition of solidarity and mutual support in times of difficulty, TKV and its units proactively and flexibly overcame the consequences of Typhoon No. 3 – Super Typhoon Yagi – and stabilized production in the fastest and most effective way.

In response to the Prime Minister's call to action, "Leaving no one behind, the whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses," TKV has donated over 400 billion VND to localities to build hospitals, schools, and eliminate dilapidated houses, thereby demonstrating TKV's responsibility to the community and localities in social welfare work.

Construction has commenced on an additional thermal power plant (Na Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant); several conveyor belt lines have been put into operation, continuing the policy of conveyor belt-based coal transportation, contributing to ensuring a clean production environment.

With the involvement of the entire political system; the correct and close leadership and guidance of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the corporation; the decisive and flexible management of the corporation's executive leadership; and with the tradition of "Discipline and Unity," the collective of TKV's workers and staff have leveraged their internal strengths, actively competed in labor and production, maximized coal and mineral output, met the needs of economic development, and successfully completed the assigned plan.

According to Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, from the results of implementation in 2024, TKV has drawn some specific lessons learned:

Firstly, we must continue to closely follow the leadership of the Central Committee, the Government, the Prime Minister, and local authorities, and the directives of the TKV Party Committee, concretizing them into the practical conditions of the group to effectively lead, direct, and organize the implementation of tasks in 2024. We must prioritize the correct implementation of the principles and regulations of the Party and the laws of the State, as well as the rules and regulations of the group.

Secondly, the more difficult the situation, the more we must unite; the more difficult the situation, the more we must maintain and strengthen discipline, order, and responsibility in performing our duties, especially among the leaders of each unit.

Thirdly, we must value and leverage the strength of the entire political system, and uphold the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" in the process of organizing and implementing tasks.

Fourth, proactively monitor the practical situation, thereby developing timely, decisive, and flexible solutions to address tasks effectively and efficiently. Task assignments must clearly define who is responsible, what the task is, and the timeframe.

Finally, it is necessary to prioritize the training, development, selection, consolidation, and timely improvement of leadership at all levels, ensuring there are no gaps or shortages in management and administration personnel, especially at the top levels.

Commending the efforts and hard work of the leadership and all staff and workers of TKV over the past year, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh – Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises – affirmed: With the above results, in 2024, TKV has successfully fulfilled its political task of contributing to ensuring the supply of coal for electricity production and economic activities, especially during the peak hot months, with an average output of 4 million tons/month.

The target for 2025 is 172,795 billion VND.

Entering 2025 with the goal of "Safety - Unity - Development - Efficiency," the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group is implementing its 2025 production and business plan with several key targets.

The projected coal consumption is 50 million tons, including 48 million tons for domestic use and 2 million tons for export. The production of alumina (converted equivalent) is expected to reach 1,300 thousand tons; copper plates 30,000 tons; zinc ingots (self-produced) 8,152 tons; steel billets 165 thousand tons; copper concentrate (converted equivalent to 25% Cu) 89,237 tons; ammonium nitrate 190 thousand tons; and explosives 76.1 thousand tons. Minimum electricity generation is projected at 10.07 billion kWh.

TKV awarded the Emulation Flag to outstanding units leading the emulation movement in 2024.

Managing and operating power plants ensures safety, maximizes capacity, and improves equipment efficiency. The group's total revenue target for 2025 is set at VND 172,795 billion.

To achieve the above objectives, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan also requested that units within the group strictly adhere to operational discipline and decisively and synchronously implement solutions regarding technology, cost management, and production organization from the group level to the units; promote the development of technical innovation initiatives in production; and effectively launch and organize labor and production emulation movements to celebrate the Party Congress at all levels and major holidays of the year, in order to comprehensively fulfill all production and business targets and tasks for 2025, making an important contribution to fulfilling the targets of the 2021-2025 five-year plan.

At the same time, strengthen the management and strict control of technical, technological, safety, and environmental indicators at all units and business units; focus on implementing the approved investment plan for 2025; continue to implement the "3 transformations" strategy in production lines and actively promote digital transformation in all "core" areas so that member units in particular and TKV in general can develop sustainably.

Strengthening corporate governance, saving costs, improving production and business efficiency; ensuring labor safety, environmental safety, and effectively carrying out security and national defense work within the enterprise; strengthening human resource development to ensure sufficient manpower for production, taking good care of the lives of workers, building corporate culture based on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​within TKV, and being proud of the "Discipline and Unity" tradition of miners…

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan expressed his confidence that, with the leading role of state-owned economic groups in ensuring national energy security, the workers, officials, and Party members of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Corporation will certainly successfully complete their tasks in 2025.
