Mrs. Le Thi So, a Vietnamese Heroic Mother from Hai Truong commune, lost her husband and son in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Now over 100 years old, her health has deteriorated considerably, but she remains mentally alert.

“During major local holidays, especially before the Lunar New Year, young people from the district and villages come to visit me, helping me clean and tidy the house and garden. They also go to the market to buy food and fruit to prepare many delicious dishes to offer at the altar for my husband and children. Afterwards, we gather around the table for a meal, chatting intimately and happily. I am very happy because my grandchildren are very understanding and do many useful and meaningful things,” said Mother Le Thi So, a Vietnamese Heroic Mother, with joy.

According to Nguyen Quoc Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province: “The program aims to educate union members and young people to deeply understand the tradition of ‘Drinking water, remembering the source,’ and to show gratitude. It also aims to raise awareness among union members and young people about the contributions and sacrifices of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs in the struggle for national liberation and the protection of the Fatherland. Furthermore, it promotes the volunteer spirit of union members and young people, helping the mothers have moments of reunion and a joyful, happy atmosphere around family meals during the days leading up to Tet.”
