Cadres from the People's Mobilization Team in Phu Hung area visited and inquired about the living conditions and production activities of the local people.
Ms. Diem recounted that her family had no land for farming, and she used to stay home to take her children to and from school. In 2023, due to the strenuous work of carrying sand, her husband suffered from back pain and had to take a long leave from work. The family's finances were very difficult, and Ms. Diem's children were at risk of dropping out of school. Understanding her situation, local officials encouraged her and introduced her to a job as a worker at a company near her home; her husband also found suitable work. In 2023, Ms. Diem's family received a "Great Solidarity" house. Currently, her family has been officially recognized as having escaped poverty.
Ms. Do Thi Kieu Loan's family used to be classified as a poor household, receiving various forms of support from the local community. Ms. Loan shared: “My family owns two acres of land. Previously, I cultivated a mixed garden, yielding meager profits. Our old house was dilapidated, with many leaks whenever it rained. In 2023, my family was considered for a Solidarity House and was given the opportunity to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank to plant jackfruit trees. While waiting for the jackfruit to bear fruit, I planted sawtooth coriander to ‘make ends meet.’ Currently, the jackfruit garden yields about 40 million VND per year.”
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, Party Secretary and Head of the People's Mobilization Team in Phu Hung area, during the period 2020-2025, thanks to fundraising and support from higher levels, the area will build and repair 10 solidarity houses. Annually, the area mobilizes 250-300 gift packages to support poor households and those in difficult circumstances, contributing to helping people stabilize their lives.
Local organizations currently manage 6 loan groups from the Social Policy Bank, with a total outstanding loan balance of nearly 20 billion VND, serving the production and small-scale trading needs of the people. Thanks to preferential loan capital, many families have invested in production and business effectively. Mr. Pham Van Beo recounted: “My wife and I didn't own any land for production; before, we mainly worked as laborers to make a living. With preferential loan capital, my wife and I rented 2 acres of land to grow vegetables. We specialize in selling cucumbers because they fetch a high price. After deducting expenses, we estimate a profit of about 20 million VND per crop from 2 acres of cucumbers. Each year, my family cultivates 3-4 crops.”
Besides caring for and supporting economic development, local officials mobilized residents to contribute to the construction of transportation infrastructure. To date, the area's roads have been neatly paved with concrete and equipped with public lighting systems, totaling 13km in length. In celebration of Independence Day, the People's Mobilization Team, along with local residents, enthusiastically cleaned up the environment and replaced the streetlights along Long Ong Street, enhancing the urban landscape.
“The Long Ong road is 1,200 meters long. This is the area chosen and registered to implement the model of a “Bright, Green, Clean, and Beautiful Road with Traffic Safety,” which has been maintained and improved for the past three years. The model has received many commendations from various levels. Currently, the area is reviewing and mobilizing social resources to replace the national flag, streetlights, etc., to welcome the National Day celebration solemnly and respectfully,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, Party Secretary and Head of the People's Mobilization Team of Phu Hung area.
