GRDP economic growth rate in 2023 is estimated at 7.03%

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong said that in 2023, the province's socio -economic situation will face many challenges; production and business activities and enterprises will face many difficulties, especially in terms of access to loans, export markets and orders will decrease; many investment projects and real estate projects will be stalled and slow to be implemented; some production projects to create new momentum for the industrial sector will be slow to be put into operation... which will have a great impact on socio-economic development tasks.

The economic growth rate of GRDP in 2023 is estimated at 7.03%, although not as expected (plan 9-10%), but this is a good growth rate and ranks 28th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, 9th out of 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions, higher than the average growth rate of the whole country (estimated at 4.7-5.8%); total product in the province (GRDP) is estimated at 73,230 billion VND (current price), GRDP per capita is estimated at 2,665 USD, up 9.5% over the same period. State budget revenue is estimated at 11,000 billion VND, exceeding the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council.

The tourism industry has recovered strongly, the total number of tourists for the year increased sharply, estimated at 3.2 - 3.3 million, completing the planned target; of which, domestic tourists accounted for about 75% of total visitors; total revenue from tourists reached 7,000 - 8,000 billion VND.

Total social investment capital is estimated at VND31,000 billion, up 12% over the same period, the poverty rate has decreased to 2.27%. From the beginning of the year to November 2023, 25 new projects with registered investment capital of VND9,374.1 billion have been granted (including 8 FDI projects with a total capital of USD134.8 million).

The province's public investment disbursement rate on the plan assigned by the Prime Minister in the first 11 months of the year reached 91% of the plan, ranking 4th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The expected disbursement for the whole year of the 2023 capital plan assigned at the beginning of the year is 5.69 billion VND/5,923,257 billion VND, reaching 96% of the plan.

Regarding the main targets of 2024 of Thua Thien - Hue province, it is noteworthy that the GRDP growth rate is from 8.5-9.5%; GRDP per capita is 3,000 USD; striving to increase budget revenue in the area by 12% compared to 2023; the multidimensional poverty rate is reduced to below 1.76%...
