President Ho Chi Minh's entire life was dedicated to the vitality of the nation and humanity. That vitality stems from the culture and the values he left behind.
The life, career, thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh clearly demonstrate that patriotism is the foremost value in the Vietnamese cultural value system; it is the red thread running throughout the history of the Vietnamese revolution. It is not only the driving force in the struggle for national independence but also the driving force in building a prosperous, civilized, and happy country. Ho Chi Minh's philosophy of development is a philosophy of development through the transformation of human affairs in a positive direction, the main content of which is the cultivation and practice of morality. It expresses what is oriented towards goodness, glorifies the beauty of humanity, and makes people yearn for pure freedom within the constraints of the universe.
In his dedication to the vitality of the nation, President Ho Chi Minh spent a very short time teaching at Duc Thanh School from September 1910. Teacher Nguyen Tat Thanh not only wholeheartedly imparted cultural knowledge and progressive ideas, but also instilled in his students a sense of their roots, awakened national pride, patriotism, love for their fellow countrymen, and the anxieties of a people who had lost their country, through his insightful lectures and practical field trips. Before leaving Phan Thiet - Binh Thuan , he left behind a letter filled with deep affection, bidding farewell to Duc Thanh School and his beloved students before heading to Saigon.
The decision to seek the truth to save the nation with a new direction, a new approach, and a new method of action – this was Ho Chi Minh's first great innovation, an innovation that decisively shaped the destiny of the country and the nation. Upon returning to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh creatively applied Marxism-Leninism and the experience of the world revolutionary movement, especially the Russian October Revolution, to the historical context of Vietnam – further fueling the continuous innovation efforts of the Party and the Vietnamese people under the banner and leadership of the "Chief Engineer of Innovation" – Ho Chi Minh.
Following the revolutionary path chosen by President Ho Chi Minh, the Party, and the Vietnamese people, the Vietnamese revolution has written glorious pages of history, achieving national independence, unifying the country, steadily advancing towards socialism, and achieving great achievements of historical significance in the cause of renovation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland. Affirming and continuing Ho Chi Minh's journey, the 13th National Congress of the Party determined to continue promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style through strong, decisive, and comprehensive measures; focusing on doing well in three areas: studying, emulating, and setting an example; and simultaneously encouraging and inspiring cadres and Party members to think and act for the common good and the happiness of the people.
Studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh is a major, continuous, and long-term policy of our Party. Both theoretically and practically, Directive No. 05-CT/TW, dated May 15, 2016, of the Politburo is a wise and timely decision that will surely receive the consensus of cadres, Party members, and the entire society.
Overall, over the past seven years, the implementation of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo and more recently, Guidance No. 06, dated January 12, 2023, of the Standing Committee of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee on organizing a political campaign with the theme "Keeping the Party Member's Oath" has achieved significant and comprehensive results in various aspects. It has gradually created a ripple effect in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh among cadres, Party members, and all strata of people in the province, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building a clean and strong Party and political system, and preventing and repelling the decline in ideology, politics, ethics, and lifestyle among a segment of cadres, Party members, and civil servants in the province.
Over the past seven years, district, town, and city Party committees, as well as Party committees directly under the Provincial Party Committee, have commended many collectives and individuals who have achieved titles and become exemplary models in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. These are beautiful flowers offered to beloved Uncle Ho, forming the core nucleus that contributes to making the implementation of Directive 05-CT/TW increasingly permeate social life, positively impacting the feelings of each citizen, multiplying positive elements and good qualities, creating an increasingly strong ripple effect in society, and becoming an important driving force for the emulation movement to build Binh Thuan province into an increasingly prosperous, beautiful, and civilized place, as Uncle Ho wished during his lifetime.
However, alongside the achievements, the study and emulation of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style still have some limitations and shortcomings, such as: The understanding of some cadres and Party members regarding the meaning and importance of studying and emulating Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style is incomplete during the term and each year; leadership and guidance in implementing the contents of Directive No. 05 have not been decisive, persistent, or thorough; there is a lack of creativity in implementation, failing to create widespread impact. Inspection and supervision have not been carried out regularly, thus failing to promptly detect limitations and shortcomings for correction and remediation. The responsibility of setting an example by some key cadres, heads of localities, agencies, and units, and a portion of cadres and Party members is not high enough... The identification, nurturing, replication, and dissemination of advanced models have not received adequate attention.
Therefore, it is necessary to continue disseminating the basic contents and great values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; and to promote exemplary advanced models, good and creative practices of localities, agencies, and units in studying and following his example.
Party committees, Party organizations, agencies, and units need to select and identify key tasks and breakthroughs, especially in addressing pressing issues and matters of public concern, promoting economic restructuring, administrative reform, strengthening dialogue and citizen engagement, rectifying discipline and work practices, etc.; thereby contributing to significant changes in the implementation of political tasks, the awareness of self-cultivation and training, the improvement of revolutionary ethics, sense of responsibility, work style, discipline, and attitude of serving the people among cadres, Party members, civil servants, and public employees; and the exemplary role of cadres and Party members, especially key leaders at all levels, will be increasingly enhanced.
For every cadre, Party member, and individual, studying and following the thoughts, moral examples, and style of Ho Chi Minh must become an intrinsic, voluntary need, a very important and ongoing task aimed at self-education and self-improvement. First and foremost, it is about perfecting one's character as a person; only on that foundation can one speak of becoming a communist character, a cadre, and a worthy member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The thoughts, ethics, style, and great career of President Ho Chi Minh are an immeasurably vast and precious spiritual asset of our nation, and have been, are, and will forever be the guiding light of the Vietnamese revolution. This legacy serves as a guide for each of us to cultivate ourselves, strive, maintain our faith, remain steadfast in our ideals, enhance our resilience to overcome all difficulties, and continue the journey of realizing the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation and homeland.
