General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chairs key leadership meeting

On the afternoon of June 12th, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of key leaders to assess the situation and results of work in April and May 2024 and the key tasks for the coming period.

Attending the meeting were Comrade Luong Cuong, Member of the Political Bureau and Standing Secretary of the Central Committee; and Comrade Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Member of the Central Committee and Chief of the Central Party Office.

At the meeting, key leaders assessed that over the past two months, the entire Party, people, and army have made strenuous efforts to achieve many important results in various fields: socio- economic development, national defense, security, foreign affairs, Party building and the political system, personnel work, and the fight against corruption and negative phenomena.

Notably, the 9th Central Committee Conference was successfully held; the 7th Session (Phase 1) of the 15th National Assembly was organized with many important contents, especially personnel work which was carried out synchronously and promptly, receiving high approval from cadres, Party members, and the people; the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term; the Chairman of the 15th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term and the position of Standing Member of the Secretariat of the 13th Party Congress was consolidated; the Central Committee elected four additional members to the Politburo of the 13th Party Congress; the personnel of the subcommittees preparing for the 14th Party Congress, the Subcommittee on Internal Political Security at the Central level, and several steering committees were consolidated; and the consolidation and approval of the consolidation of leadership positions in a number of Party and State agencies were achieved.

The socio-economic situation continues to improve positively. Macroeconomics is stable, and major balances are ensured. State budget revenue is increasing, and the state financial and budgetary situation continues to improve. Industrial production maintains its growth momentum; agricultural production is developing well. Energy and food security are ensured... The number of international tourists to Vietnam, import and export activities, foreign investment attraction, and the production and business situation of enterprises have seen many positive changes. The Government has completed and approved the planning for 6 socio-economic regions; implemented many decisive solutions to focus on removing difficulties for production and business; promoted important national projects, developed social housing, and stabilized the gold and credit markets. Administrative reform, digital transformation, and Project 06 on "Developing applications of population data, electronic identification and authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030" were given priority and directed for implementation. Social welfare work continued to receive attention. Ensuring national security, social order and safety; cultural, sports, tourism, information and propaganda activities were promoted with many positive achievements, especially the activities and ceremonies commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024); disease prevention and control and disaster relief were actively implemented... The fields of inspection, discipline, and anti-corruption continued to receive priority and direction. Foreign relations activities were practical and effective, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's role and position…

Regarding some key tasks in the coming period, key leaders emphasized that, in addition to opportunities and advantages, we are and will face many difficulties and challenges due to the continuing complex and unpredictable developments in the world, fierce competition among major powers, escalating conflicts; severe impacts from climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics… Therefore, all levels and sectors must continue to further promote the spirit of solidarity and unity; coordinate smoothly, and direct the implementation of tasks effectively. Strongly promote economic growth while consolidating and maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major economic balances; focus on removing obstacles to production and business. Implement solutions to stabilize the market and prices, especially for gasoline, oil, essential goods, housing, and food. Implement comprehensive and effective solutions to tightly manage the gold market while maintaining exchange rates and macroeconomic stability. Accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital, the three national target programs, and important national infrastructure projects. Expeditiously implement the issued plans, especially the Power Development Plan VIII, for all regions and provinces; focus on completing the approval of remaining plans. Proactively develop appropriate plans and strategies to ensure sufficient electricity, water, and fuel for production, business, and daily life. Continue to strengthen the development and improvement of institutions and the organization of law enforcement, especially for newly effective laws; ensuring efficiency, consistency, and timeliness. Promote administrative procedure reform, digital transformation, and implement the Project "Development of data applications on population, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030". Strengthen measures to prevent and combat natural disasters, fires, floods, droughts, and saltwater intrusion; ensure traffic safety, security, and food safety.

Focus on effectively preparing for and directing Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; concentrate on finalizing the draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress to submit to the 10th Central Committee meeting as planned; review and supplement planning at all levels to prepare for personnel proposals for Party congresses at all levels. Continue to effectively combat corruption and negative phenomena, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the regime. Accelerate the verification, investigation, prosecution, and trial of serious and complex corruption and negative cases that attract public attention, especially those under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena. Direct and urge Party organizations to rectify violations and shortcomings concluded by the Central Inspection Committee and other relevant agencies. Actively disseminate information and educate the public, promptly guiding their thoughts and opinions on the fight against corruption and negative practices...

Ensuring strong national defense and security, social order and safety. Effectively implementing foreign affairs work, strengthening relations with important countries and partners, prioritizing, promoting and meticulously organizing foreign affairs events at home and abroad, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

Improve personnel management and internal political security; strengthen the fight against and effectively handle harmful, false, and subversive information from hostile forces... Rectify the situation where some media outlets do not strictly comply with regulations on information and propaganda; publish unverified news and articles, operate contrary to their principles and objectives, causing confusion and negative impacts on society.

Effectively carrying out mass mobilization work and work related to ethnic groups and religions aims to minimize negative impacts on security, politics, social order, and safety, create high social consensus, promote patriotic emulation movements, and strengthen national unity.
