General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the hearts of the people of Nghe An

The remarkable impact of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the people of Nghe An.

Around April 2003, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, then a member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, visited Thanh Tien commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province. This visit left a deep impression on local officials and residents.

The process of working in the locality, the thoroughness, depth, dedication, and responsibility of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have left many special impressions on the officials and people of Thanh Tien commune.

Recalling the experience of meeting and working with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his locality, Nguyen Van Loan, former Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Tien Commune Party Committee, emotionally reminisced: “At that time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong came to Thanh Tien commune with a delegation of about 15 people. The General Secretary was always cheerful and kindly inquired about the lives of the local officials and people...”

Mr. Loan vividly remembers the image of a leader from the capital who came to the local area to work meticulously, diligently, simply, and approachably. In particular, Mr. Loan himself was once reprimanded by the General Secretary for having a sign hung in his office that read "Warmly welcome...".

"The General Secretary gently reprimanded me, saying I shouldn't have done that... Even in his reprimands and reminders, the General Secretary was very considerate, which made us ponder for a long time afterward..." Mr. Loan further confided.

In October 2017, during a working visit to Nghe An province, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the home of veteran revolutionary Le Dang Duong (in Hung Dung ward, Vinh City) to inquire about his health; and visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Le Thi Xan in Ha Huy Tap ward... In addition, the General Secretary and the delegation visited the Temple of King Quang Trung at Dung Quyet mountain (Ben Thuy ward) to lay flowers and offer incense.

Throughout his career, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has devoted considerable time and numerous working trips to Nghe An, the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh, focusing on important matters.

"It is with deep sorrow, disappointment, and profound regret that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an outstanding disciple of President Ho Chi Minh, a leader who dedicated himself to the Party and the people until his last breath," expressed Nguyen Trung Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Tan Ward, Vinh City.

Nghe An must "step forward strongly and go far" as the General Secretary hopes.

On May 25, 2023, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a Politburo meeting to discuss the report summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW dated July 30, 2013, of the 11th Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that summarizing Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo of the 11th Party Congress on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020 is necessary, evaluating the results of implementation in the past and drawing lessons for the new period.

To develop Nghe An, the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh, into a prosperous province of the country, commensurate with its particularly important role and position in the North Central and Central Coastal regions and the whole country, the Politburo unanimously issued a new Resolution on the construction and development of the province until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The objective is to establish Nghe An as a relatively developed province in the country, with rapid and sustainable economic growth, deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Nghe An; and as a regional center for trade, logistics, healthcare, education and training, science and technology, and high-tech applied industry and agriculture.

The General Secretary pointed out that the new Resolution needs to focus on the fundamental principles, with measures that are more specific, practical, easy to understand, easy to remember, easy to implement, and easy to monitor. It must create concrete changes so that Nghe An can "take strong steps and go far." With the spirit that the locality must be more decisive and be the main force, the responsibility of central agencies is also important; central agencies should not delegate everything to the locality, and the locality should not rely solely on the central government...

"What we aspire to is for Nghe An to become richer and stronger, and for neighboring localities to have a better momentum to follow. It's not about issuing a resolution and considering it a decisive success. That's only a very important first step. Therefore, there must be specific, proactive, and effective organizational and leadership measures. It's not about the Central Committee issuing a resolution and then simply handing everything over to the localities. All sectors and levels must get involved," the General Secretary emphasized.
