On the afternoon of May 14, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam and the Central Working Delegation visited and encouragedthe education and training sector of the capital, talked with teachers and students of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Cau Giay Middle School and presented STEM education practice rooms and planted souvenir trees at the schools.

Accompanying the delegation were comrades: Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Party Central Committee members: Pham Gia Tuc, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training ; Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches and leaders of Hanoi city.

At the talk, a representative of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted said that since its establishment in 1985, over the past 40 years, the school has continuously innovated and gradually affirmed its leading position in the country's education. Many of the school's students have won awards in national and international competitions for excellent students; many students have been honored to be in the ranks of the Party, in accordance with the development orientation of "both red and specialized".

In the coming time, the school will continue to strive to promote the achievements it has made, constantly innovate, develop comprehensively in terms of intelligence and personality, and focus on promoting education so that students are ready to reach new heights.

According to the representative of Cau Giay Secondary School, the school was established in 2010, associated with the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, with modern and synchronous facilities, meeting the development requirements of an advanced educational model, a team of excellent, professional, united, dedicated teachers, devoted to students.

The school has always affirmed the quality of general and specialized education, with the rate of students passing the 10th grade high school entrance exam among the top in the city.

Many students of the school achieve high results in exams and win high prizes in science and technology innovation competitions.

The school pioneers in incorporating STEM content into the curriculum, creating opportunities for students to access scientific and technical thinking early on.

Talking to teachers and students of the schools, General Secretary To Lam expressed his delight at visiting Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Cau Giay Middle School, two of the leading high-quality educational institutions in Hanoi.

The General Secretary said that through monitoring the development of the education sector in Hanoi and the reports of the two schools, he highly appreciated the leadership and direction of the city's leaders at all levels towards the education cause in the capital. Hanoi is the locality with the largest scale of general education in the country.

In recent years, the education system in the capital has achieved many remarkable results. Facilities, equipment, and application of information technology to serve teaching and learning in schools continue to be at the forefront in the direction of standardization, synchronization, and modernization.

The quality of teachers and educational managers has been improved; mass education has been stable and developed; key education has led the country in national excellent student competitions and regional and international Olympic competitions.

The application of information technology has made many improvements, especially the investment in STEM education - an important, interdisciplinary field integrating science, technology, engineering and mathematics - is a testament to the innovative thinking, long-term vision and determination to integrate of Hanoi in particular, and of the country's education sector in general.

Recognizing the quality of education and training of the two schools, the General Secretary said that the achievements of the capital's education sector were due to the contribution of the two schools, where the intelligence, efforts and aspirations of generations of students and teachers converge. The two schools have always adhered to the motto "Intensive training - Comprehensive education - Pioneering creativity", constantly innovating, updating international educational advances, gradually improving the quality of teaching and learning, and for many years holding the title of a typical advanced school with a good teaching and learning movement. The students' achievements are outstanding in many fields. The two schools have focused on developing STEM education, improving the quality of training in the fields of science and technology, meeting the requirements of integration and development.

The General Secretary affirmed that this visit to the school was like a "field survey trip" to listen to teachers and students' recommendations, proposals, and teaching and learning measures to reach the goal of training students to become excellent citizens in both Mind, Intelligence, and Talent; effectively implementing advanced teaching methods; high-quality educational activities; creating conditions for students to conduct scientific research, technical innovation, and use foreign languages ​​in communication... discovering and educating students with outstanding intelligence and aptitude to nurture talents for the country, creating a strong resource for the development of the Capital in particular and the country in general; gaining additional practice to supplement the draft resolution of the Politburo on educational innovation in the new period.

The General Secretary said the Party's goal is to build a new, comprehensive education system that is on par with the world while preserving Vietnam's cultural identity; to have a young generation that is not only intellectually excellent but also physically outstanding, rich in cultural identity, capable of competing and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, affirming the country's position in the international arena. The education system must be extensively reformed, focusing on developing creative skills, STEM, foreign languages, digital skills and modern technology. Intellectual education needs to go hand in hand with cultural, ethical, aesthetic and health education to form well-rounded individuals.

Emphasizing the goal of promoting science and technology training and digital transformation in schools, the General Secretary stated that the use of modern STEM classrooms in the two schools is not only a gift of facilities, but also a strong commitment of the Party and State in investing in the future, awakening creative potential, and nurturing passion for science and technology in the young generation of Vietnam.

The General Secretary hopes that students will promote the spirit of self-study, proactively research, apply knowledge to real life, become intelligent, brave and responsible citizens, contributing to the cause of educational innovation and the strategic goals of national development.

Recognizing and praising the efforts of the staff, teachers, and educational managers at all levels in the capital, the General Secretary requested Party committees at all levels, the government, the education sector of the capital, mass organizations, and the whole society to continue to modernize, improve the quality of education and training, and shorten the gap between "key" schools, schools in the central area, and schools in remote areas; pay special attention to reducing pressure on students, enhancing teaching about culture and arts to ensure comprehensive development for students; and research policies to support lunch for primary and secondary school students.

The General Secretary noted that Hanoi should effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, pay attention to, invest in, and create more favorable conditions for the development of the education sector, especially promoting innovative education, STEM education and digital transformation in schools; and pay attention to students in difficult circumstances with the motto "In any circumstances, no student is left behind".

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented 100 scholarships to Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Cau Giay Middle School for each school for outstanding students, a STEM education practice room and planted souvenir trees at the schools./.
