Tottenham suffer another shock.

Romero sustained an injury after a collision with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky during the Premier League matchday 32 game at the Stadium of Light. The Argentinian defender appeared to be in considerable pain and limped off the pitch, raising concerns among fans.

According to the BBC , subsequent tests confirmed that Romero had partially torn the medial collateral ligament in his knee. The serious injury will sideline him for approximately eight weeks. Therefore, Romero will almost certainly miss the final six rounds of the season, a crucial period for Spurs in their Premier League relegation battle.

This injury not only affects the club, but also threatens Romero's chances of being included in the Argentina squad for the 2026 World Cup this summer.

Romero's absence is a major blow for newly appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is striving to keep Tottenham in the Premier League. After the match, the Italian strategist couldn't hide his regret, calling Romero "an important player with a strong personality".
