According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , in the first quarter of 2026, the city's tourism industry recorded impressive growth figures. The total number of international visitors is estimated at 3.9 million, reaching 35.45% of the annual plan; domestic visitors reached 15.4 million, achieving 30.8% of the plan. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 150,000 billion, completing 45.4% of the 2026 target. This result affirms the sustainable attractiveness of the city as a destination, with MICE tourism (a type of tourism combining meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) playing a key role in driving recovery and growth.

Continuing its growth momentum, in early May, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed a large international delegation of 890 members from Allianz Indonesia Insurance Company, organized by Viking Tourism Joint Stock Company.
This is one of the largest international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) delegations to the city since Resolution 62/2025/NQ-HĐND was issued. This demonstrates the initial effectiveness of the policy to attract and affirms the professional organizational and service capabilities of the city's tourism ecosystem for international delegations combining conferences and experiences.
To welcome the delegation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organized thoughtful reception activities such as: presenting flowers and welcoming the Head of Delegation at Tan Son Nhat International Airport; preparing formal welcome letters to be sent to each member of the delegation at their accommodations, creating a friendly and warm feeling as soon as the tourists set foot in the city.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, stated that this resurgence is the result of continuous efforts to improve the tourism environment and position Ho Chi Minh City's brand on the global MICE tourism map. Simultaneously, the city's MICE tourism development roadmap until 2030 is structured around four key pillars.
In this context, the city focuses on "high-spending" markets such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe through international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) trade fairs and forums. Simultaneously, it supports businesses in developing optimized "Accommodation - Conference - Sightseeing - Shopping" package services tailored to the needs of each market. Alongside this, it standardizes service processes, applies technology in guest management and event organization to enhance international competitiveness; and strengthens close links between travel agencies, hotels, conference centers, and transportation providers to create a perfect service supply chain.
The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism expects that, with a solid foundation from the first quarter of 2026 and a clear strategic direction, the tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to break through, develop sustainably, and integrate more deeply in the future.
