Ho Chi Minh City establishes investigation team into crane collapse at My Thuy intersection construction site.

On June 13th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee sent an urgent letter to the Department of Construction and the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor) regarding the crane collapse incident that crushed a car at the My Thuy intersection construction site.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc, instructed the Department of Construction to urgently coordinate with relevant units to establish an investigation team into the crane collapse incident at the My Thuy intersection construction site.

The incident investigation team includes representatives from specialized construction agencies, relevant agencies, and technical experts. If necessary, a consulting organization may be appointed to determine the cause and propose remedial solutions in accordance with regulations.

Regarding the investigation into the incident involving machinery and equipment, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City requested an on-site inspection and verification of the investor's and construction contractors' reporting and handling of the incident in accordance with regulations.

Consider and decide to stop or temporarily suspend the use of machinery and equipment; stop or temporarily suspend construction for project components, parts or the entire project, depending on the severity and scope of the incident.

Simultaneously, we will advise and propose to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to issue a notice on the results of the investigation into the cause of the machinery and equipment incident to the investor and relevant parties.

The responsible parties and the project owner or related parties must rectify any malfunctions in the machinery and equipment as required.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also requested that the responsibilities of all relevant parties be addressed in accordance with the law.

In cases exceeding their authority, they shall advise and propose to the City authorities a course of action within their jurisdiction and in accordance with regulations.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City instructed the City's Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works to promptly report and resolve incidents involving machinery and equipment in accordance with regulations. They should proactively coordinate and comply with the requirements of the incident investigation team to determine the cause and rectify the incident, ensuring the project progresses as scheduled.

Earlier, on the afternoon of May 31, a crane over 30 meters tall at the My Thuy intersection construction site (heading from District 7 to Thu Duc City) unexpectedly collapsed, crushing a container truck and a 7-seater car.

The incident did not cause any casualties, but the front of the container truck was deformed, and the 7-seater car also sustained damage to its side.
