(NLĐO) - The fight against corruption and negative practices in Ho Chi Minh City has shown significant progress, becoming increasingly in-depth and substantive.
On January 10th, the Internal Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to summarize the internal affairs work of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in 2024 and to outline directions and tasks for 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, attended and chaired the conference.
Reporting at the conference, Ms. Pham Thi Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, stated that in 2024, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Steering Committee for the Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Waste, and Negative Phenomena of the city implemented the conclusions of the General Secretary and Head of the Central Steering Committee on the Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Waste, and Negative Phenomena at various meetings.
The fight against corruption and negative practices in Ho Chi Minh City has shown significant progress, becoming increasingly in-depth, substantive, and achieving many concrete results. Solutions to prevent corruption and negative practices have been implemented vigorously and comprehensively. Many corruption, economic , and negative practice cases have been brought to trial, with results that have been met with public approval and support.

The activities of the Steering Committee for the Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Waste, and Negative Practices in Ho Chi Minh City are becoming increasingly systematic, fulfilling its role and responsibilities, and effectively implementing various aspects of its work.
The Steering Committee for the Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Waste, and Negative Phenomena in Ho Chi Minh City is currently monitoring and directing 10 cases and 13 incidents. Of these, 2 cases are under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee. Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City prosecuting authorities are making concerted efforts to expedite the investigation and handling process.
Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai assessed that in 2024, the Internal Affairs Committee of the City Party Committee, in coordination with relevant agencies, effectively advised on and implemented tasks related to internal affairs, anti-corruption, and judicial reform in the 2024 work program of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and other emerging issues. The Internal Affairs Committee also advised on the preliminary and final reviews of documents from the Central Committee, the City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in accordance with regulations.
Ho Chi Minh City leaders presented Certificates of Commendation from the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to representatives of collectives with outstanding achievements in internal affairs work.
Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai suggested that in 2025, the Internal Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee should continue to advise the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to fully and seriously implement the directives of the Central Committee, the City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on internal affairs, anti-corruption, anti-waste, and judicial reform.
Strengthen coordination, proactively monitor and assess the situation, and promptly advise and propose to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on leadership and direction in handling complex and prominent issues related to security and order; subversive activities of hostile forces, reactionaries, and political opportunists; and large-scale, complex, and protracted complaints and petitions, etc., to prevent them from becoming "hot spots" and to avoid being caught off guard or unprepared in any situation. Coordinate and meticulously prepare plans and strategies to ensure absolute safety for Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Provide advice on improving the quality of operations of the Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena. Develop and advise on the effective implementation of the 2025 work program of the City's Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena.
In addition, strictly implement the Politburo's regulations on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative practices in Party inspection, supervision, and disciplinary enforcement; in investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments; in inspection and auditing activities; in personnel work; and in the management and use of public finances and assets.
Furthermore, early detection and timely, strict handling of corruption, waste, and negative incidents are crucial to prevent minor violations from accumulating into major offenses. Strengthening coordination and proactively and decisively addressing difficulties and obstacles in appraisal and valuation is essential; accelerating the investigation, prosecution, and trial of cases, especially those under monitoring and direction; and coordinating research and review to include certain wasteful incidents under the monitoring and direction of the City's Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Waste, and Negative Incidents.
