Ho Chi Minh City: Urgent need to establish backup data center

On the afternoon of June 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center coordinated with the Southern Information Security Association to organize a workshop on "Model and options for selecting the City's backup data center".

Ms. Vo Thi Trung Trinh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center, said that in the context of strong digital transformation today, all activities of the government and business organizations must be built and operated on a digital platform. However, digital transformation still has major risks and challenges, especially software errors, increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks, which are constant threats that can occur at any time, affecting data security and information security of all agencies, units, businesses and individuals.

With the above potential risks, Ms. Vo Thi Trung Trinh said that the proposal to deploy a backup data center is not only a solution but also an urgent requirement. The backup data center will help Ho Chi Minh City ensure the continuity of information systems and shared digital platforms, serving government operations and providing public services to people and businesses in the digital environment; at the same time, this center will help the City improve its ability to recover from disasters, protect important data of agencies, units and organizations in the area.

At the workshop, experts and managers in the technology field shared their experiences and knowledge on deploying and managing backup data centers. Experts also presented new technologies, solutions and trends in the field of data centers and information security with modern methods to improve the efficiency and safety of data systems.

According to technology experts, many organizations today still maintain traditional security thinking, with physical firewall devices that have existed for many years. However, in the operation of protecting the system and important data sources of the company, Web/App application security firewalls based on hardware devices are limited due to the increasing number of large and sophisticated cyber attacks. Therefore, to protect data, businesses and organizations need to add solutions that are capable of handling security flexibly and without load capacity limitations. In particular, to protect data infrastructure, units and organizations need a team of highly qualified security support experts, this team is trained to detect early data leaks, information disclosure, etc.
