Ho Chi Minh City: Hospital costing over 1.8 trillion VND inaugurated, meeting international standards.

On the morning of October 10th, the Ho Chi Minh City Project Management Board for Civil and Industrial Construction Projects held the inauguration ceremony for the Cu Chi Regional General Hospital. This is one of many key projects of the city to celebrate the First Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Attending the event were Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Head of the City Party Committee's Organization Department; Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; and leaders of departments, agencies, and hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the ceremony, Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet acknowledged and praised the outstanding efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works (City Management Board), the affected households, and related units.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee shared: “In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the First Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the City Management Board's commissioning of the Cu Chi Regional General Hospital not only meets the medical needs of the people in the homeland of the "Land of Steel and Bronze," but also helps people in neighboring and adjacent areas have a spacious and convenient place for medical examination and treatment. This is also clear evidence of the determination of the City Party Committee and the city government in ensuring social welfare and caring for the health of the people.”

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet suggested that Cu Chi Regional General Hospital continue to proactively develop plans for training, developing, and retaining high-quality human resources; leverage comprehensive cooperation and support from tertiary hospitals, especially Military Hospital 175 - Ministry of National Defense , to build advanced procedures and techniques in medical examination and treatment for the people; elevate the status of a gateway hospital to soon become a complete Grade 1 general hospital, striving to become a regional trauma emergency center and a specialized stroke center with strong capabilities and expertise.

To achieve the above objectives, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee directed the City Management Board to promptly complete the bidding process for the package of modern medical equipment to be handed over to the hospital and put into operation in January 2026.

According to Vo Duc Thanh, Director of the City Management Board, the project to build a new Cu Chi Regional General Hospital commenced in 2021. It will have one basement level and 13 above-ground levels, occupying over 60,000 square meters of land. The total investment is over 1,850 billion VND, with a capacity of 1,000 beds. The hospital is designed to international standards, featuring spacious grounds, landscaping, and a helipad.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Director of Cu Chi Regional General Hospital, said that the hospital provides medical examination and treatment to over 600,000 people annually and successfully performs thousands of specialized treatments such as joint replacement surgery, spinal neurosurgery, interventional endoscopy, and especially brain surgery – giving many critically ill patients a chance to live. With the new hospital building, along with 20 specialized departments, 9 functional rooms, and nearly 1,200 staff members, including 64.2% of doctors with Specialist Level I, Specialist Level II, and postgraduate degrees (18.8%), the hospital is confident it will meet the expectations of the industry and the city in providing healthcare for the people.
