Ho Chi Minh City will implement the digital transformation of health data for more than 1.7 million students.
Ho Chi Minh City will implement the digital transformation of health data for more than 1.7 million students.

Accordingly, the Department of Health will coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to standardize the forms for health check-ups and screenings, and guide the examination process at schools. This includes developing software for entering student health check-up results and organizing training for medical staff participating in the examination teams.

Starting from the 2024-2025 school year, health facilities conducting health checkups at schools must use health checkup forms provided by the Department of Health and record the results in the community health management system. To ensure accuracy and efficiency, all medical staff participating in the checkups must complete online training courses organized by the Department.

Specifically, in October 2024, the Department of Health will organize three training courses on student health check-ups. Lecturers will be from leading specialized hospitals such as Children's Hospital 1, Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital, Ophthalmology Hospital, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, Psychiatry Hospital, Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital, the City Center for Disease Control, and the Medical Operations and Information Technology departments of the Department of Health. The training content will include nine topics related to assessing and screening for school-related diseases, the approach and use of the new examination form, and the use of online software for student health management.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, one of the biggest challenges is ensuring the security and privacy of students' health data. To address this issue, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has been developing strict security procedures and standards, while also investing in advanced information technology systems.

The first step in the implementation process was standardizing health check-up forms and procedures. The Department of Health collaborated closely with the Department of Education and Training to develop standardized forms for school health check-ups and screenings. These forms were designed to comprehensively cover all aspects of students' health, from physical to mental. This included indicators such as height, weight, vision, hearing, as well as assessments of oral health, nutrition, and mental health.

With a digitized and centrally managed health data system, doctors and medical staff can easily access and track each student's health history. This allows them to detect potential health problems early and take timely intervention measures.

Furthermore, digitized data helps create a comprehensive picture of each student's health, encompassing both physical and mental well-being. This allows professionals to develop personalized healthcare plans for each student, ensuring that each receives the care best suited to their individual health condition.
