(Lam Dong Online) - On the morning of December 12th, at the Dalat Cadasa Resort, the Lam Dong Literature and Arts Association organized the "Da Lat City" painting exhibition by artist Giang Phong. Attending the event were leaders from various departments and agencies, artists, writers, and a large number of art lovers.

Leaders of the Lam Dong Provincial Association of Literature and Arts presented flowers to congratulate the exhibition.

The exhibition presents to the public 50 paintings depicting old villa architecture, flowers, and the beautiful landscapes of Da Lat. These are the creative works of artist Giang Phong over the past nearly two years.

Artist Giang Phong donated his artwork to Cadasa Resort.

Artist Giang Phong once spent his youth in Da Lat, leaving behind his youthful memories there: the pine forests, the moss-covered old villas, the windows of various shapes, and the jumbled rooftops that were intertwined with the most beautiful years of his life.

Artist Giang Phong explained: "The exhibition is a tribute to Da Lat because it's where I lived and studied. I left my family in Nha Trang to attend university in Da Lat in 1991. Da Lat nurtured my young soul through the days I spent traveling around with photographers to take pictures of Da Lat. My love for Da Lat grew, and after six years of living there, I consider Da Lat my second home."

After graduating from art school, artist Giang Phong returned to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a journalist and photographer, but his passion for color always drove him. From the clumsy drawings of his childhood that had become ingrained in his subconscious, artist Giang Phong took up painting landscapes. His first painting of Da Lat was created in 2000, depicting Da Lat University, after an exhibition of calligraphy.

Artists visiting the exhibition

Dalat's flowers, architecture, people, and streets have become an endless source of inspiration for poetry, songs, music, and art. Although living and working in Bao Loc, artist Giang Phong has always cherished the dream of painting Dalat. In 2014, he organized an exhibition of paintings about flowers and young women during the 5th Dalat Flower Festival at Xuan Huong Park.

The artist creates in solitude, but not in isolation. To create over 50 exhibited works, painter Giang Phong received encouragement, sharing, and spiritual support from many fellow artists. Especially the senior artists, younger artists, and members of the Bao Loc Calligraphy and Painting Club, who frequently visited him, sometimes just offering a jar of paint, a paintbrush, or a sincere comment on his developing work, which warmed his heart. Painter Giang Phong believes that on the path of artistic creation, the more one learns and hones their skills, the more new horizons open up.

The exhibition attracted art lovers.

In the pine forests of Da Lat, vibrant artworks depicting flowers, villas, jumbled rooftops, and windows, painted with the artist's heartfelt emotions, have touched the hearts of viewers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong – Chairman of the Lam Dong Association of Literature and Arts – affirmed the artistic value of painter Giang Phong's paintings, which are rich in emotion, with fresh lines and colors depicting the architecture and old villas of Da Lat. The Da Lat Street Exhibition is a meaningful activity that enriches the artistic space on the occasion of the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival – 2024.

The exhibition runs from now until December 21st.
