On February 6, news from the Criminal Police Department of Ca Mau Province Police said that the unit had just caught 19 people gathering to gamble on cockfighting. The case was transferred to Phu Tan District Police for investigation and handling according to their authority.
Accordingly, at around 5 p.m. on February 5, the Criminal Police Department of Ca Mau Province Police raided an empty, deserted area in Quang Phu Hamlet, Tan Hung Tay Commune, Phu Tan District, catching 19 people gambling on cockfighting for money. Evidence seized at the scene included 4 metal spurs, 8 fighting cocks, 25 motorbikes and 7 million VND.
Gamblers were caught red-handed by police at the cockfighting arena.
Through initial investigation, the above mentioned cockfighting venue was organized by Nguyen Van Giang (45 years old, residing in Cai Bat hamlet, Tan Hung Tay commune). From January 20 to February 5, Giang organized for about 70 people to participate. At the police station, Giang confessed that he often chose vacant lots to organize cockfighting to collect money.
Previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Tran Van Thoi District Police temporarily detained Le Trong Hau (27 years old) and Du Thanh Chien (42 years old, both residing in Song Doc Town, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau) to investigate the act of organizing gambling.

At around 2:00 p.m. on January 30, the Criminal Police Department of Ca Mau Province discovered a cockfighting ring in an empty lot in Dat Moi Hamlet, Phong Dien Commune, Tran Van Thoi District. Breaking into the cockfighting ring, the task force invited 13 people involved to the headquarters for clarification. Evidence seized at the scene included 8 mobile phones, 3 motorbikes and 4.4 million VND.
Through investigation and verification, Hau and Chien were the organizers for about 30 people to participate in cockfighting for money.
