- Proposal to invest in adequate healthcare facilities in the southernmost commune of the country.
According to the Department of Health's assessment, overcrowding is quite common in provincial hospitals. For example, the Provincial General Hospital has a capacity of 900 beds but actually has over 1,200 beds in use.
Given this situation, the establishment and operation of numerous private healthcare facilities in the area, ranging from general and specialized clinics to hospitals, not only helps people access healthcare services quickly but also significantly reduces the burden on provincial hospitals.
Private hospitals and clinics attract a large number of patients, helping to reduce the pressure on public hospitals.
Dr. Nguyen Van Bot, Head of the Professional Affairs Department of the Department of Health, stated: “The public health system, including hospitals, polyclinics, and specialized clinics, has developed quite strongly in Ca Mau in recent years, contributing significantly to medical examination and treatment and primary healthcare for the people. Currently, many public health facilities are investing in modern equipment and spacious infrastructure, while also strengthening the training of medical staff to meet the needs of people in accessing healthcare services in the area.”
Focusing on diversifying healthcare options, private clinics and hospitals offer a variety of medical examination and treatment packages, attracting many people, especially those on-demand packages, allowing patients to access high-tech services without having to travel far or go to higher-level facilities.
To better meet the healthcare needs and gradually improve the quality of healthcare for the people, Hoan My - Minh Hai General Hospital has continuously invested in equipment, innovated technology, and strengthened the training of high-quality human resources. Dr. Phan Van Hung, Deputy Director of Professional Affairs at the hospital, said: "The hospital focuses on improving the medical examination and treatment process, reducing waiting times, and enhancing the customer experience; applying technology in medical examination and treatment, especially electronic medical records in the near future. With these efforts, the hospital hopes to contribute to sharing and reducing the burden on public hospitals in the province, helping people have more choices in healthcare, and aiming to improve the quality of healthcare in the locality."
Regularly visiting Hoan My - Minh Hai General Hospital, Mr. Le Viet Hung (residing in Tan Thanh ward) shared: "The network of private healthcare facilities is developing rapidly, giving people more choices for treatment and healthcare, and easier access to medical services, rather than necessarily having to go to public hospitals."
Many private hospitals are increasing their investment in modern equipment to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.
Along with private hospitals, private multi-specialty clinics are focusing on innovation and improving service quality to better meet the needs of the people. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Head of the Outpatient Department at Medic Thanh Vu Multi-Specialty Clinic in Ca Mau, shared: “On average, the clinic receives 500-700 patients per day, mainly for endocrine, cardiovascular, and neurological examinations. This contributes to reducing the burden on public healthcare and improving the quality of treatment.”
As an inevitable trend in healthcare development strategy, private healthcare is affirming its important role in improving the quality of healthcare for the people. When public and private healthcare develop in parallel, supporting and sharing with each other, the local healthcare system will become increasingly strong, better meeting the healthcare needs of the people in the province.
