Night training is compulsory, accounting for 30% of the total training time. This is also the inheritance of tradition and experience in building and developing combat capabilities of our army over the past 80 years.

Identifying that important position, role and significance, Regiment 739 regularly organizes night training and combat training for officers and soldiers of Battalion 52 twice a week.

To ensure safe and effective night training, it is necessary to do a good job of preparation, especially the safety plan. On that basis, Battalion 52 fully prepared a system of shortened and interconnected training grounds to serve the training.

According to Senior Lieutenant Pham Thanh Man, Captain of Company 1, the preparation for night training is more complicated than daytime training. From setting up the battlefield to checking weapons, equipment and materials, everything must be carefully prepared before dark.

“Not only does it require additional support facilities, night training also requires preparation in terms of alertness, high combat readiness, and proficiency in individual technical and tactical movements and collective coordination,” said Senior Lieutenant Man.

After completing all preparations, at training time, the unit commander gathered the members, assigned tasks, thoroughly explained safety rules and some points to note during the night training.

In the middle of the quiet night, the alarm bell rang out repeatedly. With training contents such as: AK submachine gun shooting lesson 2b, shooting hidden targets at night; night tactics at squad, platoon, company levels..., groups of officers and soldiers of Battalion 52 moved to the training ground in order.

In the dark, despite limited visibility and complex terrain, with high determination, no difficulty can stop the eyes from observing the target and the steps of the soldiers advancing on the training ground.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Minh Diep - Political Commissar of Battalion 52 - said: Night training is very different from daytime training conditions, the ability to observe and cover the vision of officers and soldiers is limited. Flashlights, command batons, multi-colored lights... are also used to replace command flags and signal signals for soldiers to recognize.

During the training, the unit also arranged a "blue army" formation, using lights and simulated devices to create sounds and lights to simulate enemy firepower to train soldiers close to real combat. Individual movements require carefulness, urgent and precise style in each night tactical training content.

Thanks to careful preparation, officers and soldiers of Battalion 52 have properly implemented the training motto from easy to difficult, from slow to fast practice; only when individual operations are proficient can they be organized into squad, platoon, and company formations.

Corporal Tran Van Gioi (Platoon 1, Company 1) expressed: “To meet the requirements of night training, I had to undergo many hours of daytime training to master it. In the dark, we operated, focused on observing, listened carefully to commands and followed lighting signals. Through night training, we became more confident, flexible and ready to fight in all situations.”

During night training, the officers and commanders of the Regiment and Battalion always closely monitor and correct each key point, movement, and posture of the soldiers.

Major Phan Quoc Tri, Battalion Commander of Battalion 52, said: “In night training, we research and develop realistic scenarios and plans, focusing on training soldiers to master infantry combat skills; at the same time, we strengthen physical training, improve physical fitness, and enhance endurance and flexibility for soldiers. We also focus on fostering training methods for cadres, launching a movement to research and innovate, and improve teaching aids to serve training and performing night missions.”

Directly monitoring and inspecting the night training unit, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Hoa - Commander of Regiment 739 - acknowledged: "Thanks to the implementation of many solutions, the quality of training in general and night training in particular in the Regiment has been continuously improved. The unit has always achieved the title of an excellent training unit, ensuring readiness to mobilize forces to carry out tasks in all situations."
