Coffee exports in the first half of 2024: Robusta dominates Exports from July 8-14: Coffee exports to ASEAN markets grow strongly

According to statistics from the China Customs Administration, in the first 5 months of 2024, China imported over 109.85 thousand tons of coffee, worth 490 million USD, up 155.1% in volume and 104.3% in value over the same period last year.

In the first 5 months of 2024, the average import price of coffee into China reached 4,461 USD/ton, down 19.9% ​​compared to the same period last year. In particular, the average import price of coffee into China from many major suppliers decreased, except for Vietnam and Ethiopia.

In the first 5 months of 2024, China imported coffee from about 60 countries and territories around the world . The main sources of coffee for China include: Brazil, Colombia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Indonesia, the United States, Italy...

China's coffee imports from most of the above sources increased, except for Ethiopia. In the first 5 months of 2024, China imported 51.95 thousand tons of coffee from Brazil, worth 183.27 million USD, up 273.1% in volume and 258.4% in value compared to the same period last year.

Brazil's coffee market share in the total import volume of the Chinese market increased from 32.33% in the first 5 months of 2023 to 47.29% in the first 5 months of 2024. Similarly, in the first 5 months of 2024, China increased coffee imports from Vietnam, up 25% in volume and 80.4% in value over the same period last year, reaching 9.78 thousand tons, worth 31.63 million USD.

However, Vietnam's coffee market share in China's total imports decreased from 18.18% in the first 5 months of 2023 to 8.91% in the first 5 months of 2024.

Notably, China sharply increased coffee imports from Colombia and Tanzania in the first 5 months of 2024, with an increase of 475.1% and 1,026.7% in volume and 328.1% and 643% in value, respectively, over the same period last year.
