Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the University Council of Tay Bac University, stated: In the 2024-2025 academic year, the university plans to train and educate over 5,000 students and trainees. The university is actively innovating its training programs towards a modern, flexible approach closely linked to practical applications. Key fields such as agriculture, forestry, education, economics , and engineering are prioritized for development, supplementing knowledge and skills relevant to the demands of the labor market. The university is strengthening cooperation with local businesses and organizations to provide students with opportunities for internships and practical experience, ensuring they are well-versed in theory, proficient in necessary skills, and ready to integrate into the workforce after graduation.
The school's faculty and administrative staff are regularly sent for advanced professional training both domestically and internationally. Many lecturers hold high academic ranks and degrees, possess extensive practical experience, and are dedicated to their profession, inspiring knowledge and igniting a passion for learning in the younger generation. Currently, the school has 6 associate professors, 87 PhDs, 178 masters, and the remainder hold bachelor's degrees. The quality of the faculty meets the standards of a higher education institution and fulfills the training needs of the new era.
The school's infrastructure has received comprehensive investment. From 2021 to the present, the school has received investment in several projects in Phase I (2021-2025) under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Regions, 2021-2030. In addition, the school has completed the construction of the Medical and Pharmaceutical building and the Chu Van An Primary, Secondary & High School; upgraded and renovated classrooms, laboratories, and the library, creating the best possible learning and research environment for students.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is currently offering three undergraduate teacher training programs: Literature, History, and Geography; one postgraduate program - Master of Vietnamese Language; and preparatory Vietnamese language training for Lao students. Dr. Dang Thi Hong Lien, Head of the Faculty, stated: "We focus on building practical training models that connect with businesses; organizing exchanges between the university and businesses, experts, and entrepreneurs to enhance practical experience for lecturers and students; and regularly organizing extracurricular activities, skill exchanges, and career counseling forums."
Student Ha Thi Thuy Dung, K62 History Education, said: "I not only learn knowledge from textbooks, but also get to practice through real-world projects, developing my creative thinking and teamwork skills. In addition, the school organizes many clubs and volunteer programs, helping students become more active, enthusiastic, confident, and develop their knowledge and life skills."
Scientific research is one of the core tasks, and the University always encourages lecturers and students to participate in scientific research projects. In particular, projects with high applicability and addressing urgent local issues, such as: developing high-tech agriculture, preserving and promoting national cultural identity, and preventive medicine... From 2021 to the present, the University has established 5 specialized research groups; carried out 29 ministerial-level science and technology projects; 260 institutional-level science and technology projects by lecturers and staff; and 240 student-conducted scientific research projects with 812 student participants.
Striving to become a human resource training center for the Northwest region, Northwest University continues to improve overall quality, expand the scale and scope of training programs, strengthen international cooperation, and aim to become a prestigious university that meets the educational needs of children of ethnic minorities in the Northwest region in particular and the whole country in general.
