The semiconductor industry is attracting attention after the Ministry of Education and Training announced standard regulations on university-level semiconductor training at higher education institutions participating in the Program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050", according to Decision No. 1017/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024 of the Prime Minister.

List of higher education institutions participating in the Program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050" |
This Training Program Standard is an important basis for universities to develop, review and update training programs in accordance with practical requirements. Before implementing enrollment, training institutions are responsible for completing and reporting the training program to the Ministry of Education and Training for appraisal.
Specifically, candidates who want to study bachelor's or engineering programs in semiconductor microchips, if admitted based on high school graduation exam results, must use a combination of Math and at least one natural science subject suitable for the semiconductor microchip training program.
The total score of the subjects in the admission combination must reach at least 80% of the scale, for example, at least 24/30 for a combination of three subjects. In addition, the Math score must reach at least 80% of the scale, for example, at least 8/10.
For those who have a university degree, they must have a degree appropriate to the training program they are applying for and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8/4 or higher.
For students studying in another major and transferring to semiconductor microchip at the time of consideration, a GPA of 2.5/4 or higher is required.
For master's degree, undergraduate GPA requirement is 2.8/4 or higher.
