The launch ceremony for the 1st Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival – 2024 (HIFF 2024), chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Film Association, took place on the afternoon of September 20th at the Lotte Saigon Hotel.

HIFF 2024 is scheduled to take place from April 6th to 13th, 2024, at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, Lam Son Park outdoor area - Le Loi Street, District 1. These events will feature filmmakers, directors, actors, journalists, and honored guests from Vietnam, as well as delegates from the USA, France, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries.

HIFF 2024 is expected to feature many activities, including competitions in five main categories and other awards. The awards ceremony will honor the best films and filmmakers of HIFF 2024. The Organizing Committee will present awards to the winning films and screen the closing film. In addition, exhibitions, workshops, meet-and-greets with fans, combined with singing, fashion shows , and other activities will also take place during the event.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of attendees, including approximately 200 filmmakers, directors, and actors from around the world . The jury consists of leading experts in the field of cinema from continents such as Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Vietnam. The list of jury members will be announced at the end of this year.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, commented: "HIFF 2024 is an important event. We hope that HIFF 2024 will be a bridge for filmmakers, actors, and audiences from both inside and outside the country to exchange, learn, and cooperate in the field of cinema. We hope this will be an opportunity to introduce high-quality and creative Vietnamese films, affirming the position and prestige of Vietnamese cinema in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular on the world film map."
