Therefore, students who take the 2024 high school graduation exam but do not pass will be allowed to retake the exam in 2025, and will be tested on the same curriculum they have already studied.
Students currently in 12th grade taking the high school graduation exam this year are studying the 2006 general education program. Students taking the 12th grade exam in 2025 will be studying the 2018 general education program.
The Ministry of Education and Training will implement measures to ensure that students take exams based on the curriculum they are studying. This will be included in the transitional provisions of the circular promulgating the regulations for the high school graduation exam from 2025.
According to the ministry, the regulations for the 2024 high school graduation exam will be issued in March.
Basically, this year's exam will remain the same as in 2023.
From 2025 onwards, the high school graduation exam will undergo reforms to align with the goals and content of the 2018 general education curriculum.
However, there will still be a transitional period to ensure the rights of students who studied under the 2006 general education program and have to retake the exam the following year.
According to the regulations that remain stable for this year's exam, there will be 5 tests, including 3 independent tests (mathematics, literature, and foreign language) and 2 combined tests.
Students in grade 12 will be required to take 4 out of 5 exams for graduation consideration, including mathematics, literature, a foreign language, and one of two combined subject exams.
The Ministry allows educational institutions to use the results of the high school graduation exam as a method of admission.
