Breakthrough in the development of the energy industry.
With its favorable geographical location, vast land resources, high solar radiation, and stable wind speeds year-round, the district has leveraged these abundant natural conditions—where seemingly harsh weather elements are at their core—to develop the clean energy industry. Over the years, the locality has fully utilized this potential, turning challenges into opportunities to develop solar, wind, and thermal power, thereby establishing itself as one of the country's key energy centers. Between 2016 and 2020, the district made significant strides on the energy map with a series of large-scale projects. Although the pace of development has slowed recently due to the lack of synchronized transmission infrastructure, the completed projects have still made a strong impact.

To date, the district has 4 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 4,244 MW, 2 wind power projects (80 MW), and 11 solar power plants (308 MW) in operation. Notably, the district also has an additional onshore wind power plant (Vinh Hao 6.3) with a capacity of 70 MW, 4 offshore wind power projects with a total capacity of up to 8,800 MW, along with 17 solar power projects with a capacity of 1,800 MW currently in the survey and investment research phase. However, the pace of energy development is also facing challenges regarding transmission infrastructure. Some wind power projects such as Phu Lac 2 (25.5 MW) and Phong Dien 1 - Binh Thuan 2 (29.7 MW) have completed their technical infrastructure but cannot yet generate commercial electricity because they have not been connected to the national power grid.

The industrial landscape is improving.
Furthermore, the commissioning of the Vinh Tan Multimodal Transport and Logistics Center (Binh Thuan Logistics Center), connected to Vinh Tan International Port, has opened up significant opportunities for the strong development of supporting industries for the energy sector and logistics services, creating momentum for the district's economy and contributing to job creation for local people. This is a strategic step to attract investors in wind power equipment manufacturing, supporting industries, and deep processing, contributing to the completion of the local energy industry ecosystem.

Beyond being a "capital" of wind and solar power, Tuy Phong has seen positive transformations in many other industries. The garment and mineral water production sectors are developing steadily; the mechanical engineering and auto repair industries have made significant progress. The agricultural and aquatic product processing industry is thriving with the establishment of milling facilities and the production of ice, fish sauce, seaweed, and gum arabic. Products bearing the Tuy Phong brand, such as Vinh Hao mineral water, industrial salt, gum arabic, and seaweed, are gradually establishing their position in the market. Several sectors, such as construction materials, garment manufacturing, dried seafood, and wood products, continue to maintain stable production levels, making a positive contribution to the overall industrial structure.
The district has planned one industrial park (150ha) and three industrial clusters (60.56ha). Of these, the Hoa Phu seafood processing industrial cluster already has infrastructure investors, while the North Tuy Phong and South Tuy Phong industrial clusters have three production facilities in operation. Notably, Tuy Phong is promoting the establishment of the Vinh Tan industrial cluster to attract investment in wind power equipment manufacturing plants, in line with the district's development orientation for supporting industries in the energy sector. To ensure sustainable development, the district leadership has focused on environmental protection, strengthening supervision of factory operations, especially the handling of ash and slag at the Vinh Tan Power Center. Infrastructure for power transmission and supply for daily life and production has also received investment for expansion.
With its advantageous location, abundant wind and sunshine resources, modern seaport system, and diligent workforce, Tuy Phong is well-positioned for comprehensive industrial and service development. The establishment of the Binh Thuan Logistics Center in Vinh Tan, along with energy projects, will be a "boost" to propel the local economy forward in the coming period.
