On March 15, the representative of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province said that it had officially issued document No. 404/SGDĐT-MNPT on the pilot implementation of organizing teaching 5 days/week for junior high schools and high schools in the province.
Accordingly, the teaching time will start 5 days/week (from Monday to Friday) from March 24 until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Students will have Saturday and Sunday off.
For secondary school level, on 2-session teaching days, the morning should not exceed 4 periods and the afternoon should not exceed 3 periods.
For high school level, on days with 2 sessions, the morning should not exceed 5 periods, the afternoon should not exceed 3 periods. In the morning, priority should be given to teaching classes, subjects with many periods/school year, in the afternoon, priority should be given to organizing subjects and activities such as: physical education, arts, life skills...
The pilot program is applied at secondary schools, high schools and inter-level schools with secondary and high school levels that have adequate facilities and teaching staff; and at the same time receive consensus from managers, teachers, students and parents.
A representative of the Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training said that the pilot implementation is to ensure the quality and effectiveness of education according to the 2018 General Education Program; creating favorable conditions for students to develop comprehensively.
At the same time, it aims to synchronize the working schedules of officials, civil servants, educational management agencies and preschool and primary schools in the province.
The results of the pilot program are the basis and important conditions for evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of the 5-day/week teaching model, thereby making appropriate decisions in the following school years.
