This activity, organized by Quang Phu ward, contributes to showcasing students' creativity in innovating their approach to traditional subjects like History.
From the very beginning, the competition received enthusiastic participation from teachers and students in various schools. Schools invested considerable effort in both ideas and presentation, resulting in a wide variety of rich and diverse products with high applicability in teaching. Particularly noteworthy were the products that integrated scientific , technological, engineering, and mathematical knowledge into the vivid and visual recreation of historical events.
Of the 9 STEM projects from 3 junior high schools in the area, 3 are related to the subject of History. A prime example is the project "Puppet Show 'Historical Moment'" by Nguyen Thi My Thuan and Ho Ngoc Bao Tran (students from Thai Phien Junior High School). The idea for this STEM project originated from a lesson on character design and puppet theater in the 9th grade Art curriculum.
Student Ho Ngoc Bao Tran shared: “The historic event of our tanks crashing through the gates of the Independence Palace on the afternoon of April 30, 1975, was not only a military victory but also a decisive moment, ushering in an era of independence and national reunification. Through this product, we hope that students will absorb historical knowledge in a visual and relatable way. Not only applicable in History, this product can also be used in teaching Literature or Civic Education.”
The product "LED-illuminated diorama simulating the Dien Bien Phu campaign of 1954" by students of Nguyen Khuyen Secondary School also impressed at the competition. The model is meticulously constructed, with detailed recreation of terrain and battlefields, combined with an LED lighting system to illustrate the attacks and defenses of both our forces and the enemy. Thanks to the lighting effects and scientific arrangement, viewers can easily follow the campaign's progress through each stage, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of one of the glorious victories of our army and people in the resistance war against the French.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam Hien, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of the ward and Head of the judging panel for the competition, said that a noteworthy aspect of this year's entries is the emphasis on practical application in teaching. Instead of just being display models, many products were designed as tools to directly support classroom teaching. This allows teachers to use them to illustrate lessons, organize experiential activities, and help students acquire knowledge actively and creatively, contributing to a shift in learning methods towards a more lively, visual, and effective approach.
“The introduction of STEM into History teaching has shown a new direction, opening up many possibilities for innovating comprehensive educational methods. This also demonstrates the flexibility and creativity of students and teachers in schools in the ward in integrating interdisciplinary subjects, meeting the requirements of the new general education program,” Ms. Hien said.
