Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, shared that digital transformation in journalism has become an inevitable trend in all media organizations. Essentially, digital transformation in journalism involves applying increasingly modern technology to journalistic activities, enriching the digital media ecosystem with new, superior features, and improving the quality and effectiveness of communication.
Digital transformation in journalism is a new and challenging undertaking, as media organizations rely heavily on technology and new human resources during their operations. However, in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the current competitive information landscape, high-quality content is no longer sufficient; new experiences for readers must be created through the application of digital technologies .
The converged newsroom and smart newsroom model is an inevitable trend in the near future, because it brings together a flexible digital platform, and every step in the journalistic process, from gathering, processing, producing to distributing content, is digitized and optimized thanks to modern technologies.

Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, delivered a speech at the workshop. |
Speaking at the conference, the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Nguyen Duc Loi, noted that the newsroom is no longer a fixed physical space, but has become a flexible digital platform where every step in the journalistic process – from collecting, processing, producing to distributing content – is digitized, automated, and optimized thanks to modern technologies such as AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, IoT, etc. AI does not replace humans, but supports journalists in working faster, more accurately, more deeply, and closer to readers.
"Besides applying technology, we also need to pay attention to professional ethics in the digital age. Technology is a tool, but it is people who are the subjects who decide how to operate, control, and direct AI to serve the interests of society and the community," emphasized Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
