"I wish I could be taught by you teachers again!"

My child is now in high school, but whenever the topic of middle school comes up, he says, "I wish Mr. Khoa, Ms. Thuy, and Mr. Hao would transfer to high school to teach me."

When my child finished primary school, like many parents whose children were starting secondary school, I was very confused about which school to choose. At that time, a friend suggested a school in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The reason my friend gave was that this is the first public school to offer education aligned with international integration trends. The school also doesn't have a zoning system; if a child's application meets the requirements, they can enroll.

Students are respected and encouraged.

I remember that year the school planned to enroll 6 classes, each with 30 students, for a total of 180 students. The requirement for students was that they had to achieve a perfect score of 10 in both math and Vietnamese on their 5th grade final exams. The school only enrolled that number of students and did not accept any more due to limited facilities.

After I submitted the application, the teachers told me to check the list on that day to see if my child had been accepted into the school. Luckily, my child met the requirements and was accepted.

I vividly remember the meeting between the parents of 6th graders and the school administration. Principal Cao Duc Khoa said, in essence, that the school puts students at the center, and that protecting students' rights and developing their skills are invested in concurrently. Every student who walks through the school gates is not only taught knowledge but is also truly respected.

Middle school age is a "turbulent" period, so schools and families need to cooperate closely to educate children. Throughout their development, let's encourage them to develop positive qualities and offer constructive criticism to help them correct their mistakes, rather than simply criticizing them.

In fact, any principal in this country could say the same things. But how to implement them, and how consistently to do so throughout the teaching and learning process, is another story.

For my child, every day at school is a happy day!

Every day after school, he would tell stories about what happened in class, at school, or about his teachers. The problems these middle school students face sometimes involve being unfairly reprimanded, the classroom door not being properly closed, or complaining about a subject teacher being too strict or using language they consider unfriendly.

All these issues were investigated, verified, and resolved by the principal, without us parents having to speak up.

Complete travel essentials

Since starting school, my children have rapidly developed their teamwork skills and ability to cooperate with their classmates, whether close friends or not. Besides learning academics, I'm amazed by how they handle typical teenage problems and their independent thinking skills.

These are issues of conflict between groups of friends, how they treat each other, arguments, mistakes... all of which the children discuss and resolve frankly. If they can't resolve it themselves, they turn to their homeroom teacher. If there are unresolved issues with the teacher, they go to the principal to present them.

And thankfully, thanks to Principal Khoa's clear stance, my child's homeroom teachers are also extremely kind in their eyes. Every day after school, my child tells stories about the class and the teachers, including the endless "drama" at school and how they handled things. I feel truly reassured that I chose that school for my child.

My child entered high school with the same foundation and affection for their old school. The most important thing that the principal's philosophy instilled in my child and their classmates was not only the importance of being well-behaved, respecting teachers, and loving friends, but also the importance of having a clear mindset, valuing family, and understanding their own worth within a group of thousands of people at a similar developmental age.

Just go straight to the principal.

My child told me many interesting things about school, the most important of which is that if they have any questions, don't understand something, or need a solution, they can go directly to the principal. The principal is almost always at school and is always ready to listen to his students.

No child goes to school to be a bad kid, but not all children who go to school are well-behaved and diligent, only focusing on studying and doing homework without playing or causing trouble.
