Exchange rate movements in the domestic market

On the domestic market, according to TG&VN 's report at 7:30 AM on September 5th, the State Bank of Vietnam announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong against the US Dollar at 24,229 VND, an increase of 5 VND.

The reference USD exchange rate listed at the State Bank of Vietnam's Exchange Department is: 23,400 VND - 25,385 VND.

The USD exchange rates at commercial banks for buying and selling are as follows:

Vietcombank: 24,645 VND - 25,015 VND.

Vietinbank: 24,520 VND - 25,030 VND.

Exchange rate movements in the global market.

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the fluctuations of the greenback against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stood at 101.27, down 0.56%.

The US dollar fell against most major currencies after US employment data for July signaled a weakening labor market. This has shifted betting odds toward a greater likelihood of further interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Traders have intensified bets that the Fed will implement a 50 basis point cut at its next meeting, following news that July's jobs fell to their lowest level in three and a half years.

US stocks remained weak after a sharp sell-off on September 3rd due to concerns about the US economy. Also on September 3rd, dismal US manufacturing data fueled fears of a hard landing for the world's largest economy.

The US dollar fell more than 2% against other currencies in August, before stabilizing again as increased volatility in global financial markets boosted demand for safer currencies.

Marc Chandler, chief market strategist at Bannockburn Global Forex, emphasized: "The uncertainty in the stock market and falling US bond yields have caused the Yen to strengthen significantly."

Conversely, the euro rose 0.2% to $1.107075, recovering from an initial slight decline. Business activity in the eurozone was boosted by France hosting the Olympic Games last month.

The British pound rose 0.2%, reaching $1.3138 after falling to a low of $1.3101.
