Mobilizing the people through a "Digital Front"

Digital transformation is opening up great opportunities to fundamentally innovate the working methods of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), from management and administration to propaganda, mobilization, and gathering of the people, meeting the requirements of development in the new era.

Expanding the scope of activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Recently, residents of Block 5 in the Van Quan apartment complex (Ha Dong ward, Hanoi ) have been receiving important information through the "Hanoi Digital Front" on the iHanoi application as well as the Zalo group created by Front officials. Essential information for the block, important announcements and warnings from the government and relevant authorities are promptly updated by Front officials so that residents can stay informed.

Ms. Bui Huyen Mai, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, emphasized that digital transformation is becoming a key factor, fundamentally changing the way the political system, including the Vietnam Fatherland Front, operates. Recently, the "Digital Fatherland Front of Hanoi" model on the iHanoi application has created a direct connection channel between the Fatherland Front and the people in the digital environment.

Through this platform, people's opinions and suggestions are received, processed, and responded to promptly, openly, and transparently; at the same time, it becomes an effective tool for disseminating information and mobilizing people to participate in movements through digital methods. This is a shift marking the change from "direct contact" to "digital interaction," expanding the scope of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's activities.

Digital platforms enable the Hanoi Fatherland Front not only to communicate but also to listen to and promptly understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people. In particular, through the iHanoi application, receiving and responding to people's opinions is done quickly and transparently, contributing to increased trust and participation from the people.

Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province, said that the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations at all levels in Lao Cai have also innovated methods of gathering information from the people, proactively applying digital technology in receiving, summarizing, and reflecting opinions from the grassroots. The implementation of the "Digital Technology Team" model and the Zalo channel "Listening to the People" has expanded forms of interaction with the people, shortened geographical distances, and improved the efficiency of information processing…

Building a strong foundation of "people's support"

Digital transformation not only changes the tools but also the methods of mobilizing the people. From primarily relying on direct contact and campaign-based mobilization, the Vietnam Fatherland Front is gradually shifting to a data-driven approach, enhancing digital interaction, and aiming to reach the "right target audience, with the right needs, at the right time." This is an inevitable trend and a requirement for improving the quality and effectiveness of the Front's work in the new era.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, a new point in the draft Political Report to be presented at the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is the addition of a new action program: "Participating in the development of science and technology, innovation, and building a digital society; promoting digital transformation within the Vietnam Fatherland Front system."

The program will implement fundamental solutions such as: the "Digital Literacy Movement" for the masses, developing a unified, shared, and interconnected ecosystem of digital platforms; and building a database to support decision-making by leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels. From this foundation, the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new term will be reformed in terms of methods, in line with the motto "close to the people, connected to the people, close to the digital space" as directed by General Secretary and President To Lam.

Over the past period, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the city's political and social organizations have actively implemented the "Digital Fatherland Front - Digital Popular Education" program and built the model of "Digital Agency - Digital Cadre - Digital Union Member - Digital Association Member". At the same time, they have promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation within the Fatherland Front system, linked to the implementation of the project "Enhancing the Role and Effectiveness of the Fatherland Front Working Committee in the New Situation".
