The national scientific conference "Vietnamese Folk Culture and Arts after the Reunification of the Country (1975-2025)" took place on October 18th in Hanoi. The conference and folk culture performance were organized by the Vietnam Folk Arts Association over two days, October 18th and 19th, with the participation of numerous researchers and artisans from across the country.
Folklore is the original culture, the mother culture.

Professor Le Hong Ly also affirmed that Vietnamese folk culture and arts developed strongly after 1975, both in terms of collection, dissemination, and teaching. Many folk cultural heritages have been collected, restored, documented, and practiced in daily life.
There are legacies that were once considered superstitions, but have now become world cultural heritage sites, such as the "Three-Realm Mother Goddess Worship of the Vietnamese People," or the collection of an enormous collection of Central Highlands epics after the war, which has earned the admiration of the whole world; or the collection and restoration of folk cultural heritage throughout the country…
According to Professor Le Hong Ly, the development of technology poses a major challenge to folk culture, because the space and environment for folk culture, which is found in rural villages, are increasingly shrinking.
The customs, traditions, and folk cultural heritage of the nation, from religious rituals and festivals to folk songs and dances, are facing the risk of disappearing, placing a great responsibility on those involved in collecting, researching, and preserving folk cultural and artistic heritage, as well as on the responsibility of managers in the process of planning and developing policies.

Mr. Tran Duc Ngon's presentation, on the topic of modern Vietnamese folk literature, received special attention at the conference due to its practicality and relatable nature. Each time he recited satirical folk verses, the entire audience burst into laughter.

According to Mr. Ngon, satirical poems were circulated from the 1970s, creating public opinion against corruption, but now there aren't many of them.
Associate Professor Tran Duc Ngon affirmed that this is a regular phenomenon of folk culture in general and folk literature in particular. That is, wherever scholarly literature flourishes, folk literature is pushed aside.
In this case, we must consider culture in a broader sense, not just literature. According to Mr. Ngon, since the Party and State resolutely fought corruption, scholarly culture has effectively fulfilled its function and nhiệm vụ in the fight against corruption.

Meanwhile, the Party and State's policy is very decisive: "Therefore, this is not an avoidance of modern folk jokes and satirical poetry. The people never avoid it; this is a matter of principle," Mr. Ngon said.
