According to Page Six , all eyes were on Jennifer Lopez when she appeared on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in a disco-inspired dress. The backless design by Tamara Ralph featured a daring cut-out connected by large bows.
Both Daily Mail and Cosmopolitan called it the "revenge dress" because JLo looked incredibly confident, even arrogant, in the design that showcased her figure after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck.
The term "revenge dress" became popular after the late Princess Diana wore a form-fitting, off-the-shoulder black silk dress to a dinner party in 1994 at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens. Diana is believed to have deliberately worn this dress as "revenge" for her husband Charles, then Prince of Wales, admitting to infidelity.
"Now, the revenge dress has become a powerful statement of self-confidence for female celebrities after a breakup," Elle reported.

The Toronto International Film Festival marked JLo's first public appearance since filing for divorce on August 20th. Although Affleck is the producer of Lopez's film, *Unstoppable* , he was absent. At the event, Lopez didn't hesitate to interact with Matt Damon, a close friend of Affleck's. They appeared together in several group photos, but it's unclear if they had any private contact outside of the event.
Meanwhile, Affleck was seen strolling around Los Angeles on the same day.
According to People , Lopez and Affleck had been experiencing significant conflict since the beginning of the year, and separated on April 26th. They spent months reflecting on their marriage and ultimately decided to part ways.
"Jennifer couldn't wait any longer. She tried so hard to make things right, but the situation is heartbreaking. Right now, the children are the top priority," a source shared. Another friend of the couple said: "She's very disappointed and upset, but Ben has shown no signs of wanting to continue the marriage."
