Customers of the Social Policy Bank began to get acquainted with modern banking services since 2018, when the SMS messaging service was deployed through text messages to check customers' loan and deposit balances. In 2019, the SMS notification service for debt maturity was continued and the SMS notification service for customer account changes was tested. Taking another step forward to better serve customers, in March 2023, the Social Policy Bank launched the VBSP SmartBanking application. This application has had a positive impact on millions of customers, helping the poor, people in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, etc. to access banking services faster and more fully.

As a mountainous province in the North with a large area, in recent times, the People's Credit Fund, Lang Son branch has actively deployed digital banking applications, bringing practical products and services to the people, especially people in ethnic minority areas.
VBSP SmartBanking is a digital banking service of the Social Policy Bank that helps customers perform convenient services, such as: paying interest, querying transactions; customers borrowing from the social housing loan program have their monthly interest directly deducted on the application... At the same time, the application has also combined many services such as payment, transfer, payment of electricity and water, tuition fees... to create a comprehensive experience for customers.
According to Mr. Phan Anh Thang - Deputy Director of the Social Policy Bank, Lang Son branch, in order to improve service quality, bring poor customers and policy beneficiaries many opportunities to experience modern digital banking services, the Provincial Social Policy Bank has gradually applied digitalization to credit activities. At the same time, he directed the Social Policy Bank transaction offices to promote the deployment of applications in policy credit management, helping the bank to better direct, operate and deploy policy credit activities in the area.
In the whole Lang Son province, there are currently 1,520 customers using the VBSP Smart Banking application, 1,080 customers with outstanding loans making transactions via the application. By September 30, 2025, the total outstanding loans of policy credit programs reached VND 5,526,706 million, an increase of VND 434,467 million compared to the beginning of the year, a growth rate of 8.5%. Currently, there are 2,444 people who have installed and used the policy credit management application, of which 2,044 savings and loan group leaders are proficient in using the application, reaching a rate of 100%.

Sharing about the benefits of the VBSP SmartBanking service, Ms. Doi Thi Bac, Head of the Savings and Loan Group of Block 27, Ky Lua Ward, said: Currently, the group has 60 members with outstanding loans of more than 8 billion VND. Previously, we often worked with many types of documents, had to store, summarize, and access policies in paper documents. Now, with just a mobile phone installed with the application, we can update a lot of relevant content. Thanks to that, we can manage members, outstanding debt, interest payable, savings balance of members, and provide information to members anywhere, anytime.
Mr. Duong Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Trang Dinh Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, said: To improve service quality and provide customers with more opportunities to experience modern digital banking services, the transaction office has promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in policy credit activities through policy credit management applications and VBSP SmartBanking, helping customers make flexible payments, secure information, save costs, and reduce transaction time.
The deployment of VBSP SmartBanking application in the province not only helps improve service quality and diversify products and services, but also helps people, especially poor households and policy beneficiaries in remote and extremely difficult areas, gradually access non-cash payment services. Thereby, contributing to the implementation of the digital transformation goal of the banking industry.
