Currently, the street lighting system on most roads is functioning stably. However, some sections are not working due to burnt-out bulbs that have not been replaced, missing equipment, or damaged power lines. Additionally, some localities lack the funds to pay for street lighting electricity...
Based on the review results and actual needs from localities, 294.81 km of lighting systems are currently needed on national and provincial roads; of which 199.41 km are in the area north of the Cau River and 95.4 km are in the area south of the Cau River.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee instructed relevant agencies, units, and localities to proactively implement measures to ensure that the lighting system is maintained, operates stably, is used efficiently and economically, and complies with legal regulations.
Specifically, for lighting systems managed by the former district-level People's Committee, the People's Committees of communes and wards are tasked with continuing the management and maintenance of lighting systems within their respective jurisdictions; proactively allocating funds to maintain, repair, and promptly address any damage, ensuring the stable operation of the lighting system to meet the needs of people traveling at night and contributing to traffic safety on the roads. Simultaneously, they are to direct specialized departments to regularly coordinate with the police force to protect public property; and to strictly and thoroughly address any theft of equipment or wiring from the lighting system (if any).
For the lighting system currently managed and maintained by the Department of Construction, the management and maintenance of the lighting system within their respective areas will be transferred to the People's Committees of communes and wards from January 1, 2026.
