The journey is nearly 100 km long, with over 80 km being continuous mountain passes. When the vehicle reaches an altitude of 1,750 m and the fog begins to thicken, you're almost at Mu Cang Chai town. Midway through the pass, there's a flat area where visitors can stop and enjoy sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes (com lam), a famous local specialty. The second route is via the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, passing through Sa Pa, O Quy Ho Pass, then Tan Uyen and Than Uyen ( Lai Chau ) before reaching Mu Cang Chai.
