For many, it's not just a means of livelihood; it's also a way to preserve cultural values passed down through generations.
At the Three Sisters Silk store, Ms. Dung – one of the three founding sisters – recounts that her love for silk began with childhood memories of her mother.
"My three sisters and I were exposed to silk from a young age. From that love, we pursued tailoring and have been involved with silk since 1995," she shared.

For Ms. Dung, silk weaving is not just a job, but also a passion and a responsibility to preserve a traditional Vietnamese craft. The perseverance of artisans like her and her sisters has contributed to the unique appeal of Vietnamese silk in the eyes of international friends.
Many foreign tourists say they are impressed by the softness, delicate texture, and harmonious colors of Vietnamese silk products.

Chelsea, a tourist from the Philippines, shared: “I love the texture and colors of the silk here. The material is very soft, light, and feels different from many other fabrics I’ve seen.” For her, silk items are not just souvenirs but also an integral part of the experience of exploring Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Georgia, a tourist from Australia, spent a considerable amount of time observing each design before making a purchase.
According to her, the appeal of Vietnamese silk lies not only in its outward beauty but also in the authentic feel when touching the material. "I can clearly feel the subtlety and smoothness of each product. The fabric is light, comfortable, and meticulously crafted," she said.

Coming from Australia, Erin was particularly impressed with the craftsmanship of Vietnamese artisans. “Where I live, silk is quite expensive and not always beautifully cut and sewn. But in Vietnam, the products are both exquisite and unique, like a special gift to take home,” she shared.
Beyond just shopping, many tourists see silk as a way to experience Vietnamese culture. Erin said this wasn't her first time visiting the store: "I came here a few weeks ago and returned because I was very impressed with the silk products. Before leaving, I wanted to choose a gift that truly reflects Vietnamese culture."
