Using Google Maps, some people discovered a mysterious "door" in East Antarctica, just southeast of the Showa Research Station in Japan. Experts immediately gave an explanation for this strange phenomenon.

After the photo was published, the mysterious "door" became a topic of debate, attracting great public interest. Some people have put forward hypotheses related to this "door".

One opinion is that this "door" could be a shelter for the Bigfoot monster, an entrance to a secret alien base, or an entrance to the underworld .

The mysterious "door" in Antarctica was recently discovered thanks to Google Maps by a Reddit user. This person took a picture of the mysterious structure at coordinates 69°00'50″N 39°36'22″E and asked the question: "Is this the giant door in Antarctica?".

Regarding this incident, some scientists have given quite reasonable explanations. Among them, Bethan Davies, professor of glaciology at Newcastle University (UK), commented that the mysterious door is actually "an iceberg that has run aground and is melting in place".

"You can see many other icebergs in the area," Professor Davies explained, explaining that the mysterious "door" could be just part of the iceberg.

Agreeing with the above view, Professor Martin Siegert, co-director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial College London, said: "It is simply the flow of snow and ice around a solid obstacle under the ice, affected by melting and wind.

Professor Martin added that the snow on either side of the "door" shows the direction of the wind. There is nothing unusual here and it is just a natural process going on. Similarly, John Smellie, professor and volcanologist at the University of Leicester (UK), commented that the "door" newly discovered in Antarctica thanks to Google Maps is just a beautiful "work" of nature.
