(QBĐT) - In response to the demand for fundamental and comprehensive reform in education and training, the Quang Binh Department of Education and Training has implemented many solutions simultaneously to comprehensively improve the quality of education.

Over the past period, the education sector has focused on solutions to attract and effectively utilize investment resources for education and to synchronously implement the preschool education program, general education program, and continuing education program.

The Department of Education and Training has directed the implementation of 4 pilot models at the provincial level in preschool education, including: "Strengthening Vietnamese language skills for ethnic minority preschool children at Kim Thuy Preschool" (Le Thuy), "Implementing boarding school for students in disadvantaged areas at Trong Hoa No. 1 Preschool" (Minh Hoa), "Advanced educational methods at Paris Preschool" (Dong Hoi City), and "Introducing English to preschool children" at Thien Than Nho Bilingual Preschool (Ba Don Town).

Many schools have effectively organized activities such as: Children's Day, the "Building a Child-Centered Outdoor Educational Environment" competition, and monitoring the process and quality of meals for children... As a result, 100% of children are ensured physical and psychological safety; 100% of children with disabilities are integrated into educational institutions. Many schools have implemented advanced educational programs such as STEAM, STEM, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia…

By organizing experiential activities effectively, schools have created enthusiasm among students for coming to school.

At the primary school level, schools have successfully implemented the contents of the 2018 General Education Program (grades 1, 2, 3, and 4) and the 2006 General Education Program (grade 5), with a focus on teaching English and Information Technology. The sector has also organized many activities, such as: provincial-level STEM education workshops, training sessions on building happy schools, teaching communication and collaboration skills, and using artificial intelligence in English language teaching… In particular, schools consistently prioritize physical education and experiential learning activities for students.

Teacher Nguyen Duy Hoang, a physical education teacher at Hoan Lao No. 2 Primary School (Bo Trach district), said: "To improve students' health and discipline, the school has invested in facilities and equipment for physical education activities. Teachers at the school always organize morning exercises and provide opportunities for students to participate in physical games to improve their fitness. The school has also established football, table tennis, and swimming clubs for students and maintains regular activities. This creates a healthy and beneficial environment for students to improve their health."

Speaking about her favorite subjects and activities, Nguyen Thao Nguyen, a 4th-grade student from Luong Ninh Primary School (Quang Ninh), said: "I like outdoor physical education and experiential activities the most because participating in these activities makes us feel happy, allows us to unleash our creativity, and improves our health, which in turn motivates us in our studies."

For secondary education, the Ministry of Education and Training has implemented many activities to improve the quality of education. Notably, the ministry successfully organized a scientific conference on teaching methods for all subjects in the 10th grade secondary education program. This conference attracted nearly 600 teachers, with 140 presentations and discussions aimed at sharing and proposing practical solutions to improve the quality of teaching and learning for both teachers and students.

One of the highlights of the 2023-2024 school year was the successful organization of the provincial-level competition for excellent homeroom teachers at the high school level and the provincial-level science and technology competition for high school students. As a result, 41 teachers across the sector received the title of excellent homeroom teacher, and 47 student science and technology projects won awards. Of these, 2 out of 4 first-prize winners participated in the national competition and won awards (one second prize and one fourth prize).

Regarding outstanding achievements, this school year, the education sector achieved quite high results with 47 out of 67 students participating in the national high school excellent student selection exam winning awards. In the field of continuing education, the Department of Education and Training organized mass training on reforming testing and universal education, and literacy programs for management staff and teachers of vocational training and continuing education centers in the province. The sector also collaborated with the Institute for Human Resource Training and Development to train management staff and teachers of junior and senior high schools on career guidance, career counseling, and student streaming.

Digital transformation is being implemented synchronously across the entire sector, with a focus on cashless payments in schools and educational institutions, and concentrating on activities aimed at developing digital citizens…

According to the Director of the Department of Education and Training, Dang Ngoc Tuan, the education sector still faces many difficulties and obstacles in the journey to achieve the goal of comprehensive educational reform. In reality, many schools in the province still lack infrastructure and equipment, and the situation of exceeding the prescribed student-to-class ratio is still quite common… This creates difficulties in the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program and the work of building schools that meet national standards.

“To comprehensively innovate education, the Department of Education and Training has been implementing many solutions simultaneously, focusing on reforming the organization, teaching methods, and assessment of students in the direction of developing their comprehensive qualities and abilities, and promoting their initiative and creativity in learning. In addition, the department continues to direct units to implement the construction of safe and friendly schools, aiming towards happy schools. Furthermore, the entire department is focusing on preparing to organize the entrance exams for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year and the 2024 high school graduation exam safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations,” added Director of the Department of Education and Training, Dang Ngoc Tuan.

As of March 2024, the entire province had 290 out of 552 schools meeting national standards (52.5%). Some localities that implemented this activity well include Le Thuy district with 70 out of 82 schools meeting national standards; Ba Don town (45 out of 55 schools meeting national standards) and Quang Ninh (36 out of 48 schools meeting national standards).

Not only in remote and rural areas, but even in Dong Hoi City, the construction of schools meeting quality standards still faces many obstacles and barriers. Currently, only 18 out of 59 schools in the city have achieved educational quality accreditation and national standards, while 28 out of 59 schools have exceeded the deadline for national standard accreditation. The main reasons for this are the high number of students per class compared to regulations, and the inadequate infrastructure and school area according to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In the field of digital transformation, the sector also faces many difficulties. The sector lacks a unified, shared database system, and the rate of non-cash revenue collection has not met the targets set by the province…

Step by step, overcoming difficulties, the education sector continues to strive to mobilize all resources to the maximum extent, promote the socialization of education to effectively implement the work of building national standard schools and strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in the field of education and training, creating a solid foundation for educational reform towards the goal of sustainable development.
