For the Cuban People

The fundraising campaign for the Cuban people, themed "65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship," ran from August 13th to October 16th, 2025, aiming to raise at least 65 billion VND to support the Cuban people with food, essential supplies, and sustainable humanitarian activities. According to statistics, as of 8 PM on September 17th, over 2 million donations had been received, totaling 424.1 billion VND.

Students from Vinh Quang Secondary School in Kim Binh commune showed their support for the Cuban people at the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year.

In addition to directly donating to the Central Red Cross Society's account, agencies, units, and organizations throughout the province have also launched campaigns to support the Cuban people. The received funds will be accounted for, publicly disclosed, and transferred to the Vietnam Red Cross Society after the 65-day period ends. After one month of campaigning, by September 15th, the entire province had recorded 1,137 participants, with a total donation of over 346 million VND. Participating in the donation were numerous officials, civil servants, employees, members of the armed forces, union members, members of political and social organizations, businesses, and the people of the province. This activity is deeply meaningful, demonstrating the spirit of international solidarity, the humanitarian tradition, and the profound affection of the people of Tuyen Quang for international friends, while also contributing to strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years.

Ms. Dao Thi Hop, a retired police officer residing in An Tuong ward, did not hesitate to ask her grandchild to transfer money to support the Cuban people after receiving her August pension. Ms. Hop shared: “The Cubans once provided Vietnam with aid in the form of medicine, experts, and food – things more precious than gold during the subsidy period. My children and grandchildren still bear the scars from the vaccines provided by Cuba. Now, seeing Cuba's difficulties, I think I should repay the kindness of the Cuban people when I have the opportunity. I hope that each person's small contribution will help the Cuban people overcome this difficult period.”

For example, Mr. Ba Hung, CEO of Gardenfoods Co., Ltd., immediately after learning about the fundraising campaign, donated a significant amount of 2,025,655 VND. Mr. Ba Hung said: "Even now, I still vividly remember the poem 'Beautiful Cuba' by poet To Huu, which I memorized in school, and the feelings that the Cuban people have shown towards Vietnam during difficult times." His donation symbolizes the year 2025, marking the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam-Cuba friendship. He believes that when we know how to love, share, and not forget our friendship, all difficulties will eventually pass.

What was most touching was the warm and loving participation from the students, the future generation of the country. Although the amount they donated was not large, just savings from their breakfast money and birthday money, it contained so much sincerity. Hoang Cam Linh, a student in class 8B at Vinh Quang Secondary School in Kim Binh commune, shared: “Our teacher once told us about the beautiful friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. When we heard that the Cuban people were facing difficulties, my friends and I really wanted to contribute a small part. We hope that the children in Cuba will soon have enough food, clothes, and the opportunity to go to school like us.”

Mr. Luong Duy Toan, General Director of Ho Toan One-Member Limited Company, said that his father, a student of the 11th class of veterinary medicine at Hose-Macty University (now the Agricultural Academy 1), graduated in 1970 and received training in disease diagnosis from Cuban experts at the Tan Dao dairy farm in Hai Phong and the Phu Dong farm. Continuing that tradition, Ho Toan One-Member Limited Company currently operates a dairy farm and regularly collaborates with agencies and organizations to donate milk to children in disadvantaged areas and children suffering from thalassemia in Tuyen Quang province. Even without direct support from Cuba, this area is daily benefiting from the "sweet drops" of enduring friendship.

Humanity knows no boundaries, compassion knows no limits. From elderly people saving their pensions to young children giving up their breakfast, all have created a vast circle of support for friends far away in times of hardship. "Kindness and compassion" is not something distant, but lies within every loving gaze and every helping hand.
