The search operation was organized into many small groups, each using rudimentary tools such as sticks to probe under thousands of square meters of mud and soil, following the stream banks and using their hands to dig through obstacles in search of bodies. To date, the 316th Division, Military Region II, has discovered 7 bodies buried under the mud.
Captain Do Trong Cuong, 316th Division, Military Region II, shared: "We feel very sad and regretful about the bodies that have been found. We are making every effort and actively following the orders of our commanders to search for those who are still missing."
Captain Trinh Hong Long, from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Lao Cai province, stated: "Some victims were found in a mutilated state, which makes us even more determined to continue the search."

To expedite the process, search operations were implemented simultaneously, with the assistance of sniffer dogs. These dogs were a crucial force in detecting traces of the victims.
Major Doan Van Hoan, of the Search and Rescue Team, Border Guard Command, said: "Specialized dogs help detect and sniff out signs, then we report to the commander to deploy excavation."




Service dogs assist law enforcement in the search operation.
Approximately 650 people participated in the search operation, including the military, police, and militia. Despite disrupted transportation, the authorities persevered, coordinating closely to achieve the best possible results. Given the complex search situation, commanders continuously adjusted their plans to adapt to the actual conditions.
Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong, Commander of Military Region II, said: "We are organizing forces to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to support the people in stabilizing their lives and overcoming the consequences. At the same time, we are boosting the morale of the people through actions and sentiments from the military region and the Ministry of National Defense ."

Search teams are persistently searching for the victim's body.
After makeshift meals and brief rest periods, the soldiers returned to the scene, determined to race against time to find the unfortunate victims buried under the mud and help their families alleviate their grief.
