Vietnam won 159 international Olympic medals

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training , in the 2020-2024 period, Vietnam had 173 contestants participating in regional and international Olympic competitions, bringing home 159 medals of all kinds. Of these, there were 54 gold medals, 60 silver medals, 45 bronze medals and 14 certificates of merit.

In terms of the number of gold medals, in 2022, Vietnam won the most gold medals with 13 students; followed by 2021 and 2024 with 12 students winning gold medals.

Vietnamese students are increasingly ranked highly in regional and international Olympic competitions.

In 2024 alone, Vietnam will have 7 student delegations participating in regional and international Olympic competitions with 38 students participating. Including an Informatics delegation participating in the Asia- Pacific Olympic region, a Physics delegation participating in the Asia Olympic region and 5 delegations participating in the international Olympics: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.

Compared to 2023, 2024 will see an increase of 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals. Vietnamese student delegations will compete with high rankings; many Vietnamese students will achieve top scores, especially the practical exam scores will increase compared to previous years.

Previously, in 2023, the Vietnamese team was also in the group of 9 countries with the highest results.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that the results of the regional and international Olympics in 2024 and the past 5 years have affirmed the efforts and endeavors of students. This is also the result of the innovation of theeducation sector in the selection and training of national teams to participate in regional and international Olympic competitions according to the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training. The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese national team affirm the quality of general education; affirm the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and training excellent students.
