In high school, knowledge of history and geography is much more in-depth than in previous levels. Students need to grasp the historical process of Vietnam and the world in many stages, and at the same time understand the natural, economic and social characteristics at the national and regional scale. Textbooks provide a foundation of knowledge, but to understand deeply and be able to apply, students really need visual support materials.
The History and Geography Atlas for High School was created with that goal in mind, helping students observe, analyze and systematize knowledge in a scientific way.
The atlas is published by the Northern Education Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company. The team of authors involved in compiling the atlas are experienced researchers and lecturers, ensuring the scientific quality and accuracy of the document. In the History section are the authors Tran Thi Vinh, Luu Hoa Son, Nguyen Xuan Truong, Pham Van Hai. In the Geography section are the authors Le Huynh, Do Anh, Phi Cong Viet, Pham Van Hai.
The atlas is designed in line with the 2018 General Education Program, ensuring the appropriateness of content and requirements for each subject and grade. Through the system of maps, charts and illustrations, students can easily recognize the development of historical events, territorial distribution or characteristics of economic regions.
The main highlight of the atlas is its flexibility in use in many different activities during the teaching process. Teachers can use it during lectures to illustrate new knowledge, organize students to analyze maps to draw conclusions, or use it in review lessons before exams. Students can study on their own by comparing textbook knowledge with map images, practicing reading, analysis and comparison skills.
Using atlases in learning also helps students form the habit of working with visual data. When observing regional economic maps, students can see the differentiation of production between localities. When analyzing historical maps, students can clearly identify military routes, territorial expansion or the impact of war on the international situation. These skills are not only necessary for History and Geography, but also useful when students participate in presentations or take exams.
It can be said that the appearance of a specialized atlas for high school contributes to realizing the goal of the new general education program, which is to comprehensively develop students' abilities and qualities. With serious investment in content and form, the atlas becomes a necessary learning material, helping the teaching and learning of History and Geography at high school level become more specific, intuitive and more practical.
