The ceremony to announce the elimination of trachoma in Vietnam was held by the Ministry of Health at the Central Eye Hospital on April 14, 2025.

For decades, the health sector has been vigorously implementing the SAFE Strategy recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), which includes Surgery, Antibiotics, Face Washing, and Environmental Improvement.

This strategy has been implemented methodically, in accordance with actual conditions in Vietnam.

In particular, the continuous impact surveys and monitoring conducted from 1995 to 2023 have created a solid scientific and practical basis for confirming trachoma eradication in Vietnam according to the strict standards and criteria of the World Health Organization./.
