Vietnam Rubber Industry Group works with Lai Chau province: Promoting agricultural and economic development in the highlands

(laichau.gov.vn) This morning (October 13), the working delegation of the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group led by Mr. Pham Hai Duong - Deputy General Director of the Group and Mr. Huynh Kim Nhut - Chairman of the Vietnam Rubber Trade Union had a working session with the People's Committee of Lai Chau province. Receiving and working with the delegation were comrade Le Van Luong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau province, along with leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Office of the People's Committee of the province.

At the meeting, representatives of Lai Chau Rubber Joint Stock Company and Lai Chau Rubber Joint Stock Company II reported on the production and business situation in the period of 2022 - 2025. Accordingly, Lai Chau Rubber Joint Stock Company, established in 2007, currently manages 6,777.9 hectares of rubber (exploiting 6,705.59 hectares) in 7 communes: Phong Tho, Sin Suoi Ho, Khong Lao, Nam Tam, Nam Ma, Pu Sam Cap and Nam Cuoi of Lai Chau province. Revenue in 2024 reached nearly 300 billion VND; profit nearly 40 billion VND. The company is creating stable jobs for thousands of workers, with an average income of about 6 million VND/person/month, of which over 90% are local ethnic minority workers. Every year, the company spends billions of VND to take care of workers' lives, contributing over 15 billion VND to the budget.

Lai Chau Rubber Joint Stock Company II, established in 2009, currently manages 6,575 hectares of rubber, of which 4,720 hectares are taken care of in 5 communes of Le Loi, Nam Hang, Muong Te, Trung Chai and Sin Ho of Lai Chau province. Thanks to efforts to overcome difficulties, revenue in 2024 will reach over 110 billion VND and ensure production efficiency and workers' lives.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Hai Duong - Deputy General Director of the Group reaffirmed the results of rubber companies in Lai Chau province in stabilizing production, business, and taking care of workers' lives, especially local workers. He emphasized: The Group always puts workers at the center of all activities, from salary and welfare policies to training and improving the quality of life and strives for the income of Lai Chau rubber workers to approach the average level of workers in the whole Group.

The Deputy General Director of the Group also emphasized that in recent times, the units in the Group have always strengthened management work, improved production and business efficiency, promoted the application of science and technology, and at the same time rejuvenated and consolidated the management staff to meet new development requirements. He affirmed that despite the complex terrain and many difficulties, thanks to the active support of Lai Chau province, rubber enterprises have overcome challenges and gradually developed sustainably.

In the coming time, Mr. Pham Hai Duong suggested that the province continue to pay attention, support, and remove obstacles in land and environmental procedures; create conditions for businesses to invest in expanding processing plants. The Group is committed to always accompanying Lai Chau province, implementing projects suitable to the development needs and capacity of the Group. On this occasion, he warmly congratulated the success of the 15th Lai Chau Provincial Party Congress and believed that the new Party Executive Committee will continue to lead the province to develop comprehensively, humanely and sustainably.

During the discussion at the meeting, delegates also discussed the issue of ensuring the environment in transporting and processing rubber latex; plans for reforestation; coordination between businesses and departments and branches in reporting information and grasping, removing difficulties and suggesting great potential for livestock development in Lai Chau, especially pig farming associated with raw material areas, and at the same time proposed to strengthen propaganda, recruitment and stabilization of the local labor force...

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Le Van Luong - Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee thanked the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group for its attention and support to the locality over the past years; and acknowledged the Group's practical contributions to socio-economic development, job creation, crop restructuring, and income improvement for ethnic minorities in border areas. He affirmed that Lai Chau province will continue to closely coordinate with the Group, creating favorable conditions for rubber enterprises to develop stably, contributing to the successful implementation of sustainable agricultural development goals for the period 2025 - 2030.

Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Luong delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

He emphasized that in order to achieve the double-digit growth target, the Group needs to closely follow the general development targets, maximize production capacity, especially take advantage of favorable weather conditions in the dry season to achieve the highest output; Rubber Companies closely coordinate with local authorities in labor recruitment, research a more flexible and mobile labor age structure, and at the same time strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to stay and work long-term at rubber plantations.

Comrade Le Van Luong also requested the Group to closely coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment in implementing reforestation and environmental protection, and at the same time research more fields of production, livestock breeding, and border export, exploiting the agricultural advantages and geographical location of the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his wish to work with Lai Chau Construction Group to become a typical area for rubber tree development and have many types of production and attractive jobs, helping people stabilize their livelihoods, not having to work far from home; continue to share experiences, invest in depth, and accompany the development of the locality...
