Vietnam is experiencing the second change in telecommunications with telecommunications infrastructure becoming the digital infrastructure of the economy. Telecommunications infrastructure is transformed into digital infrastructure to serve the digital transformation and digital economy in the country. In 5G equipment production, Vietnam has also achieved some achievements. Currently, some Vietnamese telecommunications equipment is sold in foreign markets, along with that, many domestic telecommunications enterprises have invested in technical infrastructure internationally.

Telecommunications is not only for those living in urban areas but also in rural areas, bringing new opportunities to everyone. Besides, telecommunications is an important national infrastructure that needs to ensure safety and security. In the US, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is the agency in charge of testing whether devices meet standards or not. The FCC uses laboratories from certified private companies to test telecommunications equipment.

Telecommunications cooperation plays an important and strategic role not only for the future economy but also for the national security of Vietnam and the US, therefore, the two countries will continue to cooperate on telecommunications equipment standards, jointly research and build an ORAN lab located in Vietnam, cooperate in network security and develop IoT devices.

Digital cooperation: A top priority in the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnershipDigital cooperation is one of the priority focuses, mentioned first in the Action Plan to implement the Joint Declaration between the two Leaders.
