Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that Vietnam's stance on China's fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been affirmed many times.
"Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago as well as its sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over Vietnam's maritime zones established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); respect the rights of Vietnamese fishermen to legally operate in Vietnam's maritime zones and maritime zones beyond national jurisdiction in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 UNCLOS; refrain from actions that complicate the situation, and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and law-based order at sea in the East Sea," the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The spokesperson added, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has communicated with the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi and also handed over a diplomatic note protesting the above fishing ban."
Also at the press conference, answering questions from the press about the recent military exercises between China and Cambodia, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said: "We believe that cooperation between countries needs to actively contribute to peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region as well as in the world , in accordance with international practices, on the basis of international law and the basic principles of the United Nations Charter."
