More than 500 foreign ships were chased away from violating Vietnam's sovereignty over its waters.

(NLDO) - On the morning of June 25, at Nui Thanh, Quang Nam province, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 held a preliminary review of the work of the first 6 months of 2025.

Since the beginning of the year, the Standing Party Committee and the Chief of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command have led and directed officers and soldiers of the entire Region Command to strictly maintain combat readiness, grasp the situation, proactively advise and propose effective handling of situations, and avoid being passive or surprised.

Major General Tran Quang Tuan, Commander of Coast Guard Region 2, spoke at the conference.

The Regional Command deployed 40 ships and 13 boats to participate in the mission. The ships of the Regional Command propagated and chased away more than 500 foreign ships violating Vietnam's maritime sovereignty , firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. The Coast Guard coordinated with functional forces to resolutely fight against IUU fishing, all types of crimes, smuggling, and trade fraud.

In the fight against drug crimes, the unit has coordinated to destroy 6 projects and cases, seized 15,172 pink meth pills, 38.9 grams of various drugs. Organized well the mass mobilization work, focused on propagating laws and regulations on combating IUU fishing, built a clean and strong Party organization in association with building a strong and comprehensive unit "Exemplary, typical"; ensured good logistics and technical work for the tasks.

Commander and Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2 awarded prizes to collectives and individuals with many achievements in performing their duties.

In the last 6 months of 2025, Coast Guard Region 2 will strictly maintain combat-ready forces and equipment, strictly manage assigned sea areas; be ready to perform natural disaster prevention and search and rescue tasks during the rainy and stormy season; patrol, investigate, and strictly handle fishing vessels that violate the law; strengthen management and education of discipline, maintain unit safety; ensure good technical logistics, improve the lives and health of soldiers...

At the conference, Coast Guard Region 2 launched a peak emulation campaign "Raising the August red flag - Competing to win 3 first place".

Coast Guard Region 2 also awarded the title "Emulation Soldier of the whole army", Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense and Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Coast Guard to individuals and collectives with outstanding achievements of the unit.
