Provincial leaders work with the German-Vietnamese Cardiology Association

On the afternoon of December 1, comrade Nguyen Long Bien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee worked with the German - Vietnamese Cardiology Association on the content of supporting Khanh Hoa province in professional work, medical equipment to implement open heart surgery and proposed to establish a Medical Branch at Khanh Hoa General Hospital.

Reporting at the meeting, Khanh Hoa General Hospital said that the hospital's Cardiovascular Center includes 3 departments: Geriatric Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Thoracic Surgery. In the past time, the center has deployed many specialized techniques such as: Coronary artery intervention; structural heart intervention; peripheral vascular intervention; interventional treatment of arrhythmia; transesophageal echocardiography, treatment of heart failure, hypertension, chronic coronary artery disease, stroke sequelae... As for the Department of Thoracic Surgery, it has performed open heart surgery since 2014; however, it was temporarily stopped in 2019 for some reasons. During the 5 years from 2014 to 2019, the department successfully operated on 124 cases of heart diseases.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Long Bien requested the Department of Health and Khanh Hoa General Hospital to soon restart open heart surgery at the hospital; upgrade the Cardiovascular Center to international standards, as a premise to move forward to become a South Central Coast Regional Hospital. At the same time, there must be a specific project to support the development of human resources, equipment, and transfer of treatment techniques from the German-Vietnamese Cardiology Association to the hospital; move towards signing a cooperation agreement on support contents with specific timelines and roadmaps in the spirit of urgency and breakthrough. Comrade Nguyen Long Bien requested the Department of Health to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to review and study the establishment of a Medical Branch in Khanh Hoa according to the proposal of the German-Vietnamese Cardiology Association. The Department of Finance is responsible for coordinating with the Department of Health to develop a project to attract high-quality human resources and invest in equipment for the health sector, including the cardiovascular sector; survey to select a suitable location, expand facilities to develop the Cardiovascular Center at Khanh Hoa General Hospital.
