Squadron 131 - 45 years of continuing to write the heroic epic in the middle of the Fatherland's open sea

VHO - Over the past 45 years, on the ships that have drawn endless patrols between the sea and sky of the Fatherland, Squadron 131, Brigade 172, Naval Region 3 has engraved its name in the history of protecting sovereignty with the sweat, intelligence and blood of generations of marine soldiers. From the early days of poverty to today's strong maturity, they have always kept an unchanging oath: "Even if the sea turns white, we will still wholeheartedly protect the island and protect the sky".

The 45th Anniversary of the Founding Day (December 1, 1980 - December 1, 2025) is not only an occasion to look back on the past, but also a reminder of a proud tradition - a tradition created from storms, tempered in hardship and shining with the spirit of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers".

Steel footprints in the deep blue ocean

On the sacred sovereignty map of the Fatherland, each voyage of Squadron 131 is like a decisive, decisive line, affirming indelible sovereignty. Over the past 45 years, from the primitive ships of the early days to the modern missile ships of today, the soldiers of Squadron 131 have sown "steel footprints" on the sea - marks of loyalty, intelligence and perseverance to the point that even the storms have to retreat.

During the process of building, fighting and growing, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the command of Brigade 172 and the direction of all levels, Squadron 131 has turned solidarity into strength, discipline into lifestyle, and difficulties into motivation.

From patrolling the central sea, sudden missions in the dark, to strong winds and waves of level 7-8, officers and soldiers always maintain a proactive, calm, and steadfast stance like soldiers who know every wave and every wind by heart.

The ships of Squadron 131 are not only combat vehicles, but also a “second home”, a spiritual support for soldiers to place their trust and responsibility. Each deck, engine room, radar station… bears the handprints of soldiers who “live off the ship, die on the waves”, do not sleep well, do not have enough time to eat to be able to maneuver, be on duty, and guard every nautical mile.

From the depths of the ocean to the blue sky, from the red dawns pulling the fluttering national flag, to the dark purple sunsets dyeing the anchor chains, all have witnessed the growth of Squadron 131 - a unit whose every step of development is paid for by sweat, effort and silent sacrifice.

It is these "steel footprints" that create a solid foundation for the Fleet's tradition: steadfast in combat, steadfast in the face of challenges, creative in missions and faithful to the oath to protect the homeland's seas and islands.

It is a tradition not only written in words in history, but also engraved on the ocean floor by actions, by every voyage, by every mission regardless of day or night.

Build discipline - keep peace from every deck

Ships of Squadron 131 training at sea

The squadron strictly maintains daily and weekly schedules; builds a “green - clean - beautiful” environmental landscape; and maintains the model of “regular, exemplary ships”. For many years, the unit has had no serious disciplinary violations - a rare occurrence in a unit that is regularly on combat duty at sea.

The technical sector synchronously deploys guarantee, maintenance and repair work according to hierarchy; promptly fixes damage, maintains technical coefficients so that the ship is always ready for operation.

Along with that, policy work and military rear areas are carried out fully and thoughtfully; taking care of soldiers' spiritual life; participating in social and humanitarian funds... creating a solid foundation for officers and soldiers to feel secure in their attachment to the unit and the sea.

In 2025, Squadron 131 had many collectives and individuals being commended; competitions, sports, cultural - artistic, physical training and sports activities achieved high results, contributing to building a healthy cultural environment, connecting comrades and teammates, and adding youthful energy to the unit.

These achievements are not only worthy rewards, but also proof of a united, courageous and intelligent collective that has been continuing the 45-year tradition to move forward steadily.

Continuing the epic of Squadron 131

In 2025, Squadron 131 achieved many outstanding results in competitions, sports, culture - arts, physical education - sports; many groups and individuals were proposed for awards. These results not only recognized the efforts but also affirmed the combined strength of a united and brave group in the middle of the ocean.

Carrying forward the 45-year tradition, the Party Committee, commanders and all officers and soldiers of the Fleet are more aware of their responsibility to the Party, State, army, Navy and people.

In the coming time, the unit will continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's military and defense guidelines; build a clean and strong Party organization; and build a comprehensively strong "exemplary and exemplary" Fleet.

With steadfast faith and the oath to protect the sea engraved in their hearts, each officer and soldier of Squadron 131 vows to unite, uphold the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers"; constantly study, train, master science and technology, master weapons and equipment; be ready to receive and excellently complete all tasks, so that the ships of the Squadron will always be "steel wings" steadfast in the ocean, guarding the peace of the beloved Fatherland.
